I love the aroma of sweets baking in my oven. It always means something wonderful is on it’s way to our table.

Aromas have such a powerful trigger of emotions and memories…..I remember as a child walking into my grandma’s house and always smelling something delicious ….it would have my mouth watering instantly . Today those same aromas remind me of happy times with family and loved ones.

Sweet breads and muffins are usually a sure way to trigger a memory…. butter just melting in my mouth, the flavor reaching every taste bud filling me with happiness.

When my girls were little my mom would make them muffins every time they spent the night….whoever got up first got to help and lick the bowl!

Today, they’re too old to spend the night with grandma any more, but they still enjoy muffins for breakfast, and the memories they bring!!

First one up…….still gets to lick the bowl help!

Granola Banana Pancakes with Cinnamon Honey Butter

Do you know, most of my childhood I grew up thinking I didn’t like pancakes.  I loved french toast (some day I’ll have to share my secret to the best french toast you’ve ever had), and big fluffy Belgian waffles dripping in strawberries, all the way down to a frozen waffle with a dribble of Mrs. Butterworths.  But NOT pancakes.

I guess my mom was never a fan, because I don’t remember her making homemade pancakes….but I DO remember staying over night with a friend who’s mom made us whole wheat pancakes for breakfast (before eating healthy was cool)….and I distinctly remember feeding them to the dog under the table, and a few bites went into my napkin.

Well, I don’t remember when I gave pancakes a try again, but I know I was an adult, and they are now something I enjoy and cook quite often for my own family, whether they’re spooky pumpkin pancakeslow cal fiber pancakes, or even just quick shake ‘n pour pancakes.  I like them all!

Today’s post, was inspired while in beautiful Park City for Evo Conference  last month, when I had pancakes for for breakfast at The Canyon’s First Track Cafe. They were SO good in fact, that I had them twice! I knew once I got home, I need to recreate them for my family! {ok, so maybe I did it selfishly for myself….but I DID share with the whole family}

A perfect lazy Sunday morning breakfast! (or dinner), served with cinnamon honey butter is the “finishing touch”.  It’s quick and easy to make, so I recommend you don’t skip it!

Blogging can have some really amazing perks!  I’m astonished at some of the opportunities that have come knocking on my door.  Who would have ever thought that blogging could become the best job I’ve ever had!

Recently I was  fortunate enough to be the guest of Dole for their first-ever Salad Summit in Monterey, California.  I was treated to three days of bliss at the InterContinental the Clement Monterey with 10 other incredible bloggers.   We received an inside look at Dole, by visiting the Dole fields, meeting farmers, workers in the fields, employees and touring their impressive processing plant.

Incredibly I have so much to share with you, I hope you don’t mind if I just break it down in to a few posts over the course of the next few weeks.

Much of our 36 hours was focused on food, but the better part of day 2 was spent at an actual Dole farm and processing plant.

We were asked  to ‘gear up’ in hair nets and thick rubber gloves- as we headed into the fields where iceberg lettuce was being harvested.
