Dip Storage Suggestions
This baked dip stores well covered in the fridge so you can make it and munch on it throughout the week.
How Do I Store Leftover Jalapeno Dip
Cover the leftover dip with plastic wrap or aluminum foil or transfer it to an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Reheat it in intervals in the microwave or place it in an oven set to 375° F for about 10-15 minutes.
Freeze
Place the dip in a freezer-safe container and store it in the freezer for up to 1 month. Allow it to thaw in the fridge overnight. Mix and add the topping right before baking.
Variations
- Heat – Adjust the spiciness by using mild or hot jalapenos.
- Fresh Jalapeños – Substitute fresh jalapenos for canned by roasting half a dozen jalapenos until they soften. Then, take out the seeds and the membranes.
- Buffalo-style – Add a little extra heat with buffalo sauce.
- Yogurt – Replace the sour cream with plain Greek yogurt.
- Topping – Swap out some or all of the bread crumbs with crushed tortilla chips, butter crackers, or French-fried onions.
- Cheese – Try using other cheeses like gouda or pepper jack.
- Veggies – Boost the nutrients by adding vegetables like diced bell peppers, roasted corn, or green onions.
- Meat – Add browned chorizo, cooked bacon bits, or browned ground beef for more protein.
Kitchen Notes + Tips
- Make the dip ahead of time and keep it in the refrigerator until just before it’s time to bake it. Give it 15-30 minutes to come to room temperature before putting it in the oven.
- Add the crunchy topping to the dip just before baking to avoid sogginess.
- Grate your own cheese instead of using bagged shredded cheese for the best flavor.
If you’re serving a large group, you may want to serve a few more hot and cold appetizers. You can’t go wrong with Sheet Pan Nachos, Buffalo Chicken Dip, Guacamole, and pico de Gallo. Oh, and don’t forget a dessert dip, The Best Cannoli Dip is always a hit!

Notes
STORAGE
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days. To reheat, microwave the dip in a microwave-safe bowl on high for 30-60 seconds, or until warmed through. Or in a 375° F oven for 10-15 minutes.
You can prep this dip a day ahead. Just cover and refrigerate until ready to bake. For the best texture, prepare the topping just before baking to keep it crispy. If the dip is cold from the fridge, let it come to room temperature or add 5-10 extra minutes to the bake time.
Use mild or hot canned jalapenos depending on how spicy you want the dip.
If you prefer, you can use fresh jalapenos. Simply roast 4-6 jalapenos until tender.
Remove seeds and membranes if you want the dip to be on the mild side.
