Laundry is a beast that, like it or not, we all have to tackle. Many of us first experience this beast when we move away to college. But even if you learned to do laundry at home, if you’re anything like my daughters, when you ran into trouble, you left if for mom to take care of or asked her what to do.
So when Allison moved to her college apartment this year, I decided to send her armed with some printable laundry tips and cheat sheets. I included tips on how to remove mildew smells from towels and clothes, a recipe for homemade stain remover and a cheat sheet for removing some common stains. To make sure she always had them available, I made her a laminated laundry tip flipbook so she could hang them on her laundry basket or on a hook in her apartment laundry room.
As part of my ongoing partnership with Scotch Brand, they had sent me their Self-Seal Laminating Pouches, which worked perfectly for this project. Making it super easy to laminate the sheets, so they stay in good shape, and the pouches even have an opening for a loop, so there’s no need to punch a hole for the key ring.

I’ve been thinking about revamping our laundry room. Love these laminated tips. Will help us train li’l Daisy to do her own laundry!
My college boy needs these in the worst way! He came home freshman year with some laundry with strange black spots. I finally figured out that he’d been throwing his sweat-drenched workout clothes into the laundry basket and there they’d sit for a week+ growing mildew! Ewwwww… Needless to say they got a good cleaning at home 🙂
Wow, great idea. Thanks!
This is such a fantastic idea! My boys are still several years away from college, but I am bookmarking this so I can make them their own flip books when the time comes.
These would be a great addition to a bridal shower gift! Get a set of bath or dish towels and add this in! Thank you for sharing!
oh you are right!! I’m on college brain lately! lol GREAT idea!!
This is such a cute and smart idea.
This is brilliant, I have 2 at uni at the moment and both could do with this. My daughter didn’t realise a wool jumper doesn’t go in the tumble dryer and shrunk one to toddler size (really!) and my son needs to get that bedding of his in the way WAY more often. You think they’ve paid attention over the years but it turns out – not so much!
What an adorable idea! Your post made me giggle. I just had a friend post on Facebook that she has NO idea what all those symbols mean and it frustrates her. Now I know where to send her! (And this will be perfect for my daughter who’s going away to college next year!)
This is wonderful, thank you for your creativity. My grandfather lives alone and I was wondering if you had the same thing but for basic laundry care, eg. whites are washed in X, darks get washed in Y, linens should be washed on Z…
Thank you!
What a cute idea! I’m also thinking bridal shower gift with a laundry basket of towels, washcloths, detergent, bleach, dryer sheets, etc. Pinning for the next time I need a gift!
