We had a GREAT time at a family Christmas party on Sunday.
I have to share my aunts home with you all! She decorates for Christmas in Turquoise and Red, and their finished basement is St. Louis Cardinals themed.
Don’t you just love all the little touches?
The ornament balls on top the votive candle holders!
The Santa hats lined up on a shelf, the baseballs mixed with ornaments!
That white tree changes colors, well the lights change colors, she also has these adorable red feather wreaths that I didn’t get a good picture of to show you, but they are adorable with a turquoise bow and turquoise ornament hanging in the middle!
We snacked, we drank, we played a White Elephant Ornament Exchange, this year all 17 people played!
and we laughed…..
GARLIC CHICKEN PUFFS APPETIZER RECIPE
Everyone brought an appetizer to the party.
I brought my new favorite finger food. My niece made these tasty little puffs filled with garlic chicken a few months ago for another party. We all loved them and they were the first appetizer to go.
So I called her to get the recipe.
Garlic Chicken Puffs!
A rich creamy garlic chicken in a croissant that you eat with your fingers! What’s not to love
They are a little messy to make, and I think I filled mine a little too much, so some of the chicken mixture oozed out, but still tasted DELICIOUS!

Garlic Chicken Puffs
A rich creamy garlic chicken mixture inside a croissant and baked to form yummy puffs. A big crowd pleaser and great for gatherings!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup cooked shredded chicken*
- 4 ounces cream cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- a pinch of salt
- 2 (8 count) cans refrigerator crescent rolls
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375° F and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil sprayed with cooking spray.
- In a medium bowl mix cream cheese, garlic, and shredded chicken until well blended.
- Unroll crescent rolls and cut each triangle into 2 triangles (when you unroll the crescent rolls, 2 triangles are attached making a big square, I just cut from there following the perforation for one cut and made another cut from the other corners = giving you 4 little triangles)
- Place one teaspoon of chicken mixture in the center of each crescent triangle. Fold the corners over the chicken mixture and place on prepared pan.
- Bake for 11-14 mins.
Notes
*For cooked chicken, I either use shredded rotisserie chicken, or I cook a few chicken tenderloins in a 350°F oven for about 25 mins. After the chicken has cooked and cooled some, I place it in the bowl of my electric mixer and beat with the paddle attachment to quickly shred the chicken.

Anyone served these at room temperature? I’ll be trying these out for a potluck and won’t be able to reheat before they’re served.
They are delish hot, warm, room temp and even out of the fridge Jessica. Try them as the recipe is or add a tsp of curry powder, or with herb & garlic cream cheese or with a large clove of fresh minced garlic in place of the garlic powder! You can’t loose with this recipe! Fabulous served with sweet chili sauce too!
Thank you so much for the recipe and follow up comments!!!! LOVE reading reviews and suggestions when I’m making new stuff! I just made this for my son’s bday party (have to make some fun adult food!!!) So thanks! My kitchen smells wonderful!!!!!

These were absolutely wonderful and super easy to make. Served them at my book club Christmas party last night and they were a hit…a definite keeper! THANKS!
These were our wedding colors so I just LOVE the idea of the Tree!
I love garlic, but this was TOO MUCH! I’ll make it again using half the garlic, which I think will be just perfect.
Barb are you sure you used 1 tsp of garlic powder? not garlic salt or a tablespoon?
It’s never been overly garlicy to us or anyone I’ve served them too.
yes, I double-checked the measuring spoon after tasting them, so I know it was the right amount… and I only have garlic powder – don’t use garlic salt at all, so I don’t keep it in my cupboard. Either way, it’s a great recipe and I look forward to trying it again. Thank you for the recipe… and for following up on my comment. 🙂
My mom makes these only with Mrs. Dash instead of garlic and uses chive cream cheese. Very delicious!!

I make something similar. Instead of regular cream cheese I use onion and chive cream cheese. Adds some amazing flavor. I also throw in chopped celery and sometimes pecans. Once they are rolled up, I dunk them in butter then roll in crushed Pepperidge Farm herb stuffing.
DELISH! A huge hit with my family all the time. We do this for dinner, serve with rice, a veggie and cover with gravy 🙂

we made these this evening after finding them on pinterest and they were delicious! We are thinking about making them again tomorrow but with a little twist……instead of garlic powder we are going to use the dry ranch seasoning! sounds yummy:)
How did the ranch dressing do?
i am looking for appetizrs for a big family event,,,,these look like they can hold overnight…
Excellent, according to my husband and daughter!! Okay, me too!! I used chive and onion cream cheese and leftover chicken. This is definitely a keeper. Thank you!
Not sure if someone said this already but it’s easier to just use Boursin instead of doing the cream cheese & garlic. That way the flavor is pre-measured if you will. Delicious idea, thanks for sharing your recipe!

Has anybody tried these with canned chicken? If so how did they turn out?
Lori, i just made these last night using canned chicken…they were FABULOUS…we loved them…and so easy!
Canned chicken works wonderfully well. Use 2 cans of chicken to 8 0z of cream cheese with chives and onion. I also use one to two Tbs of filling to one crescent roll/chicken puff for meal size. After rolling just bring the ends over to form a packet.
Has anyone tried them without the chicken?
Thanks for sharing this! I came across it earlier today and ended up making it this afternoon 🙂 So easy and very yummy. Shared it on my blog and linked to you (with my attempt at ’em).
I’m so glad I logged on to your blog as I have a large mirror that I want too do some etching on! and I’m also going too try out your Chicken Enchlada Puffs they look soooooo goooood they make my mouth water just looking at the pictures of them.

Just made these tonight for the first time for a party that Im haven for Sunday, and I dont think im gonna have any for the party, as my picky 10 yr old son is sneaking 1 here and there when I turn my back. YES, they r that good! THANK YOU THANK YOU :))))
How well to they freeze?
Pingback: Super Delicious Chicken Puffs |
I’m confused as to how many times I should cut the triangles… I believe I’m supposed to cut each triangle into 4, yielding 8 triangles per can or 16 per recipe… But the yield is 32 puffs. Or is the 32 puffs the yield for the double recipe? Thanks!
“Unroll crescent rolls and cut each triangle into 2 triangles ” – you cut each triangle into 2
the recipe calls for two 8 count cans of biscuits, so that will yield 32 puffs
hope that helps
Hi, is it possible to make these ahead of time and freeze them? If so, how long should I cook them on the reheat? Thanks!
I’m sorry, I don’t know, I’ve never tried it. But if you do, I’d love to hear how they turn out and I will update the post, because others have asked the same thing!
These chicken puffs freeze well.
Delish
I have to tell you that I came to your website via pinterest for a delicious recipe, but I enjoyed your pictures of the party so much. Clearly you all had a fantastic time!! 🙂 Thank you so much for sharing your holiday joy with the rest of us, I’m certainly envious.
You’re so sweet! And thanks so much for taking the time to leave a comment too!!
I made these exactly as the recipe stated and loved them. I also made some swapping ham for chicken and mustard for garlic. Wow, wow, wow! The possibilities are endless. Thank you for the great idea!

Can these be frozen and if so, can they be frozen before cooked?
I tried these tonight. OMG. SO GOOOOOD! But I did have to tweak it a little bit…OK…a lot. I didn’t have any chicken thawed and had 2 sweet sausage links in the fridge. I took off the casings, cooked up the meat, and instead of adding garlic powder because I thought that the sausage would give plenty of flavor already, I added dill weed. It was delicous! Thank you so much for sharing your recipe!
