I’m so excited to share a little project I did over the holiday weekend!!  I’ve been brainstorming on decorating ideas for our living room with Jessica from Four Generations One Roof.  You can check out our “Living Room Inspiration” Pinterest board we have been using to bounce ideas around with.  I’m dying to get started in there, but I know it’s going to be a big project! (see more at the end of this post)

So, I thought I could start some where small like our entryway.

I’ve fallen in love with coral and gold.  This little table used to belong to my late mother-in-law.  I painted it years ago, but did not strip the old stain or prime it, so the old stain was seeping thru the light color I had painted the table.

Looking at these pictures, I can’t believe how bad it was looking!

This time I wanted to make sure that old red stain wouldn’t rear it’s ugly head again, so I made sure to prime the table first.  I gave her 2 coats of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Stain Blocking Primer.

Next I was ready to give her a few coats of Krylon Coral Isle when I ran into a few snags……… I apparently had a bad can of paint.  If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen my cries for help……..the paint was pouring out of the can, and not covering my table, it was all speckled.  I was told I had a bad can, I tried a few things to “fix” it, but they didn’t work.  Then, suddenly, after weeks of no rain, I look up and a dark sky was quickly moving in on me!  I got the table in the garage just as it started pouring.  We desperately needed rain, but I’m sorry, I think that little 10 minute shower was just Mother Nautre’s way of messing with me!

Time to call it a day.

The next day I picked up another can of paint and gave her 2 coats then used Martha Stewart Metallic Craft Paint in yellow gold to give her a touch of class.

I LOVE how she turned out!

I had an old black mirror I pick up at Good Will a few years back.  I dry brushed the frame with the gold paint and hung it over the table.  The candle holder and box I picked up at Home Goods a few weeks ago.  The orchid and grapevine ball I borrowed from the house.

As you can see, it’s not a very big space to work with.  (you can see my post about my Instagram Poster here)

I’ll probably change up the wall color in the foyer, when we paint the living room, if I ever decide what I want to do –  here’s a  peek of how the room looks now….all the cabinets lined up on the wall because we had nothing to put on there (I can’t stand how that looks) with a few notes of what I’m looking to do with the space.

The sofas are about the only thing staying in the room.  The big red cabinet holds most all my food props and dishes – my dad made it for me a few years before he passed away, as well as the TV cabinet.  So they are pieces that I will keep, they will just probably move to another room. —the rolltop desk is part of my bedroom furniture I had growing up.

It’s a great space, but I need to decided on a wall color to go with my new couches I bought right before we moved.  I’m SO slow at making decisions! lol  anyone else that way?  At least I feel like I made a tiny step forward 😉
