Everyone needs a good iced tea recipe, and no need to look any further because this red raspberry iced tea recipe is just what you’ve been looking for! It’s simple to make, refreshing to sip on, and full of amazing fruit flavor to set it apart from your traditional iced tea recipe.
During the hot summer, I have a pitcher of iced tea stocked in the refrigerator constantly, it just that perfect drink you need to cool you down in the heat, but don’t limit this one just to the summer months. Its made with frozen raspberries, meaning you can enjoy this iced tea any time of the year.
You’ll definitely want to save this recipe now because it’s about to be your new go-to fruity drink obsession!
How To Make Raspberry Iced Tea
Making your own raspberry iced tea is much easier than you might think, and it’s so much better than paying for overpriced premade bottled flavored iced teas. See for yourself just how easy the steps are.
In a large saucepan or dutch oven, simply stir together the sugar, water, and raspberries. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and let the mixture simmer until sugar is completely dissolved. Remove pot from heat, add tea bags and lemon juice.
Next, you’ll cover the pot and let steep to your desired strength. Once steeped, discard tea bags and let stand at room temperature until cool. Using a fine-mesh sieve, strain mixture into a pitcher, and use the back of a spoon or clean glass to press all the raspberry juice.
Discard remaining berry pieces. Refrigerate until very cold and stir before pouring. Serve cold over ice with raspberries, a lemon slice or mint sprig. For sweeter, add more sugar as desired.
What Kind of Tea Do I Need To Use?
For this recipe, I used black tea, which is the most regular type of tea used to make iced tea. It provided that signature tea flavor you think of when you picture sipping a nice glass of raspberry iced tea on the porch on a warm summer night.
I don’t suggest swapping out black tea for green tea, or any other herbal tea with too much of its own unique flavor. This recipe gets a lot of its flavor from the raspberries, so you want a more mild-flavored tea. Any other options might not go well with this combo.
Does Black Tea Have Caffeine?
Yes, black tea in its regular form does have some caffeine. There are about 45 milligrams of caffeine per cup of black tea, which is about half the amount of a typical cup of coffee.
While the caffeine in tea is quite a bit less, it’s still there, so if you want to avoid the caffeine altogether, you can buy a decaffeinated version of black tea that will work just as well.
Whether you use caffeinated, or decaffeinated, be sure to buy the individual tea bags, not just a canister of loose tea.

It was one of my go-to drinks of the summer. and will most likely continue to be a go-to throughout the fall! It is a recipe that includes dark liquor though, so if that’s not your cup of tea, here are a few other options.
You can add 1-2 ounces of vodka, gin or, rum per perving, or you can add 1 1/2 cups of alcohol to the whole pitcher and mix it in with the rest of the ingredients.
Iced Tea Making Tips You’ll Want To Read
- If you don’t have a fine-mesh sieve, you can line a colander with cheesecloth and place it over a large bowl. Then pour the raspberry tea through the cheesecloth. Gather the cheesecloth around the remaining fruit and press on it with the back of a wooden spoon to squeeze out the raspberry juice. Discard the cheesecloth with the leftover solids.
- Pour some of the raspberry iced tea into ice cube trays and place in the freezer for ice cubes. You could even toss a raspberry in each cube before freezing. Serve with your Raspberry Iced Tea instead of plain ice cubes.
- Serve with frozen raspberries instead of ice cubes for an extra raspberry flavor as they thaw.
- For best results drink within the first 8 hours, or you can cover the pitcher and store any leftover raspberry iced tea in the refrigerator for up to three to four days.

- 4 quarts water
- 1½ cups sugar
- 12 ounces frozen unsweetened red raspberries
- 10-12 tea bags (regular tea or black tea)
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- fresh or frozen raspberries, lemon slices and fresh mint (optional garnish)
