There’s nothing worse than a picture with bad lighting. And if you’re a blogger, you know the drill…..NATURAL light is BEST.….Don’t use your flash! We hear it over and over again.
But what’s a blogger to do this time of year?
You’ve got this great dinner recipe you’re dying to share with your readers. But by the time you prepare dinner (and make your family wait while you photograph it) all the good light is gone.
If you have a dSLR camera, you have a few choices; use a tripod, and super low shutter speed and hope for the best, use the dreaded on camera flash (yuck), or spend some dough on a speedlight, ego lights or some other sort of studio lighting.
But I recently came across a fantastic little gem! It’s genius really………
It slides easily over your camera’s hot shoe and redirects your pop-up flash to a ceiling or wall.
Lightscoop® is a smart low-tech device that creates soft, flattering light by redirecting your camera’s pop-up flash to a ceiling or wall.
The Lightscoop is a fantastic affordable alternative to an external flash. No more red eye and overexposed faces from using the pop-up on camera flash. You get portability, simplicity and affordability, at just $29.95.
Take a look at these shots I took of my daughter one evening in my office. (all shots are straight out of camera)
See how much warmer and more natural the picture on the right is? I am totally impressed with quality and dimension achieved byt the Lightscoop!
Here’s another example with some goodies we made one day ……..I’m shooting with a large window to the left, but it was a dark and rainy day. So after the first few shots I realized I just wasn’t going to have enough light (and I didn’t like my props lol)…..the shot on the right was taken using my Lightscoop! much better!

Photography is a huge hobby of mine. I take pictures of my kids. I take pictures of my friend’s kids. This would help tremendously because I get so aggrivated with the shadows, spots and uneven skin tones I often get with the flash I have now.
I’m a new follower. Thanks for sharing!
I tweeted about the giveaway.

I like to use natural light for my photography but it gets tough in the winter when it’s dark, grey and gloomy outside. The Lightscoop would help me out tremendously!
I couldn’t love it more! I’m a TM subscriber 🙂

This looks like a GREAT inexpensive gizmo!! Thanks!
I visited lightscoop and believe that it could be a lifechanging item as far as my photography is concerned! If I don’t win, I am definately going to add it to my birthday wish list for this month. Can’t wait to use it for my children and food especially!
Hey Cheryl! I need this camera! I love how great the pictures look, and what’s even better is that they describe it as a “low-tech” camera. Perfect for me!

Hi! I’d love to have the Light Scoop! Thanks for sharing about this fantastic product. I despise taking photos with the harsh flash, so this will be just perfect!
How would this help my photography? Simple. No more lousy, blown out pics in my depressingly dark living room. 🙂

I liked the Light Scoop on facebook. I would love to win it! 😀
I am already a Facebook fan of Tidy mom, and I”d really LOVE to win the light scoop!
I would LOVE a LIght Scoop! I visited their site, and this would definitely help me when I take pics at night and can’t rely on natural light!
So I visited Light Scoop and oh. my. goodness. I live in the desert of Arizona, which means having shades or tinted windows on our home is a must. This keeps our home cooler in the summer heat. Since we have the permanent tinted windows (wished we had done shades), my house feels like a cave all. year. long. The winter months more so. I believe the Light scoop will make me appreciate the flash on my Nikon D40 more. Being so affordable, even if I don’t win, I have got to get one of these babies.
I am a google reader subscriber. LOVE your blog!
I just joined you on Facebook.
…and now I’m a lightscoop fan!!!! Oh, pretty please?
I just linked up to “I am lovin’ it”. I’m sharing some yummy little heart cake balls.
I just tweeted about this giveaway. Thanks for hosting it!
I don’t own a fancy camera (yet), but my sister does. And she lives in a house that has NO natural light in the main rooms. And way up north in Canada so in winter months, light is hard to come by. This would totally help her. And I would score sweet sister points! 🙂
I follow you on an RSS feed.
I would love to win the Light Scoop just to be able to take everyday pictures of my grandchildren. I think if I could take better pictures I would take more. My husband swears it is not me it is the poor lighting.
I follow you on FB! 😀
