There’s nothing worse than a picture with bad lighting. And if you’re a blogger, you know the drill…..NATURAL light is BEST.….Don’t use your flash! We hear it over and over again.
But what’s a blogger to do this time of year?
You’ve got this great dinner recipe you’re dying to share with your readers. But by the time you prepare dinner (and make your family wait while you photograph it) all the good light is gone.
If you have a dSLR camera, you have a few choices; use a tripod, and super low shutter speed and hope for the best, use the dreaded on camera flash (yuck), or spend some dough on a speedlight, ego lights or some other sort of studio lighting.
But I recently came across a fantastic little gem! It’s genius really………
It slides easily over your camera’s hot shoe and redirects your pop-up flash to a ceiling or wall.
Lightscoop® is a smart low-tech device that creates soft, flattering light by redirecting your camera’s pop-up flash to a ceiling or wall.
The Lightscoop is a fantastic affordable alternative to an external flash. No more red eye and overexposed faces from using the pop-up on camera flash. You get portability, simplicity and affordability, at just $29.95.
Take a look at these shots I took of my daughter one evening in my office. (all shots are straight out of camera)
See how much warmer and more natural the picture on the right is? I am totally impressed with quality and dimension achieved byt the Lightscoop!
Here’s another example with some goodies we made one day ……..I’m shooting with a large window to the left, but it was a dark and rainy day. So after the first few shots I realized I just wasn’t going to have enough light (and I didn’t like my props lol)…..the shot on the right was taken using my Lightscoop! much better!

While I am by no means I pro, I can’t believe I have not heard of this before. I must get one! It looks amazing.
I also follow via RSS.
Lightscoop would help me take better pictures of my boys, crafting and baking when I need a picture without natural light!
I would love to have the lightscoop. I would take more photos indoors in the winter months instead of shying away from it.
I follow Tidy Mom in Google Reader
This is genius! It’s compatible with my camera too! It would improve my photography because I could be more spontaneous when taking photos without worrying about the glare of the flash!
Thanks for the great giveaway, Cheryl! This tool is genius!

I “like” you on facebook, Cheryl! 🙂
We don’t have a lot of windows in our home, so this would be wonderful for indoor pictures. Thanks!
I need this! My flash just makes my pictures look so unprofessional! This would sure help!
That is the coolest thing ever! I need one so bad! My apartment has barely any natural sunlight!
With a new granddaughter to photograph, the Lightscoop would come in so handy !

Oooo….this is so cool! I might actually be able to do project 365 since I will be able to take pix after 14 hour shifts! Its impossible to take pix of a one yr old in low light!
I would LOVE this for pics of my kids! It’s so hard to get little ones to sit by a window while I get a good shot.

I’ve never entered a giveaway! This one was worth my time–I am in desperate need of flash help. I hate my on-camera flash, but our house is notoriously dark inside–all year long. I was so excited to hear about an AFFORDABLE way to fix the flash issue. I would love to have a Lightscoop to help me improve those indoor or bad lighting pictures–just look at some of my photos and you’ll get it! ; )
I joined you on Facebook as a fan.
I also linked up two entries with you this week–80 and 81.
Thanks, Cheryl. You rock!
I would love the lightscoop for those times, just like you described, when dinners ready, there’s no natural light and the family is hungry, but I need a good shot! Would love to give this a try!

I linked up my mocha chip angel food cake with a chocolate ganache! It was super yummy!
I have the light scoop also. I love it too. I do find it a little tricky to get the right amount of light and not over expose though.
I can see the pictures of my active and adorable daughter improving immensely. My projects would be better documented as well.
oh how that would make it easier than dragging out the lamps I use. I typically photograph all my food at night, so this would be great!
What a fun giveaway!
I follow your blog 🙂
I tweeted about your giveaway!
Ack! Just went to the website … i try so hard not to use my flash because of the harshness! But with the Light Scoop, I could use my flash in low light situations and not blow out faces!
Pick me!!!!

What a cool attachment!! I have a hotshoe flash but it makes my camera so heavy and sometimes I just don’t want to lug it around. So I use my pop up. So the lightscoop would definitely improve it because that flash is harsh sometimes and my house is not all that big, so I can’t get too far away from my subject.
I’m following you now. I thought I was but I guess I just had you in my google reader.
Oh and I already like you 🙂 on facebook.
