There’s nothing worse than a picture with bad lighting. And if you’re a blogger, you know the drill…..NATURAL light is BEST.….Don’t use your flash! We hear it over and over again.
But what’s a blogger to do this time of year?
You’ve got this great dinner recipe you’re dying to share with your readers. But by the time you prepare dinner (and make your family wait while you photograph it) all the good light is gone.
If you have a dSLR camera, you have a few choices; use a tripod, and super low shutter speed and hope for the best, use the dreaded on camera flash (yuck), or spend some dough on a speedlight, ego lights or some other sort of studio lighting.
But I recently came across a fantastic little gem! It’s genius really………
It slides easily over your camera’s hot shoe and redirects your pop-up flash to a ceiling or wall.
Lightscoop® is a smart low-tech device that creates soft, flattering light by redirecting your camera’s pop-up flash to a ceiling or wall.
The Lightscoop is a fantastic affordable alternative to an external flash. No more red eye and overexposed faces from using the pop-up on camera flash. You get portability, simplicity and affordability, at just $29.95.
Take a look at these shots I took of my daughter one evening in my office. (all shots are straight out of camera)
See how much warmer and more natural the picture on the right is? I am totally impressed with quality and dimension achieved byt the Lightscoop!
Here’s another example with some goodies we made one day ……..I’m shooting with a large window to the left, but it was a dark and rainy day. So after the first few shots I realized I just wasn’t going to have enough light (and I didn’t like my props lol)…..the shot on the right was taken using my Lightscoop! much better!

I shoot a lot of photos of our Youth Group at church and this was help with the terrible inside florescent lighting that I normally shoot in. Thanks for introducing this great product.
I am new to photography and would love a lightscoop!

I’d be able to take better pictures of my children and husband! 🙂
What an amazing gadget! Went to Lightscoop, Joined your facebook and Lightscoops fan pages too. 🙂
I get a lot of shadows cast behind my subjects with my pop-up flash. I think this would really help.

I would love to win this because I haven’t done much with flash photography and I need to do more especially with the gloomy winter we’re having!
It would improve the quality of pictures I take of my handmade bows. Currently I am using an index card to deflect the flash to the ceiling.
So glad I found your blog as I was searching for reviews of the light scoop. I’m also very glad to see someone else raving about it. Based on your examples, I know it would help my photography immensley. My photos are always either underexposed or my subjects are wayyyyy too bright…. My poor darlings aren’t loving that flash either. lol.
I live in Ohio and the light situation is killing me. My son is 10 months, and by the time I get home from work, I have zero light to work with. This would save me and my precious memories of him 🙂
“Rather than losing meaningful moments as they unfold in typically imperfect indoor light, use a Lightscoop® to redirect your DSLR’s pop-up flash. This way, you can imitate natural light in most home settings — even in windowless rooms lit by dim bulbs!”
Yeah. That’s pretty much why I need one of these lovelies.

Oh, pictures of my grandchildren will be so much better with this!
okay so this may seem silly but i live in the dreary rainy pacific NW, FACT: there is not a lot of natural light here. RESULT: One either uses a flash or one only take pics during the lightest part of the day. Of course you can make adjustments to your camera and take the pic but it still is best to have natural light. It’s a rather dreadful choice i the end. So what’s a girl to do? HOPE and pray that she is the lucky one to win this brilliant product!
In other words, pick me! pick me!

This would be great. I would use this for my indoor photography. I only really sew at night, so my pictures don’t always look the best. This would help so much. Also, I have two big German Shepherds who would look so much cuter using this method. I really hope I win this one as I am out of hobby budget already this month, and yes I know it is only the fifth 🙂
Oh I sooo need one of these. Especially now that my daughter is on the move I don’t have time to wait for the flash and if I do use it all my photos come out all washed out.
I subscribe!
Lightscoop would help me so much! I rarely have the opportunity to photograph during the day, so getting optimal light is a big issue. I love your comparison shots – it makes such a difference!
i’m tired of taking crappy indoor pictures! I NEED the Lightscoop. Please!
This contraption is great! I hate the flash effect, and this would work great, I checked out if it was compatible with my Nikon D40 and it is!
first off, my photog skills are really bad, very low tech, and contributing to that is my house has the most awful lighting!!!! this would help so much!!!!

I am just beginning (over the last year) my photography business.
During the winter months I do VERY LITTLE photography bc of the very reason….using the add on flash is to bulky and doesn’t always work.
I can see using this during my daughters T.N.T TUmbling meets..>Oh’ it would be sooolovely.
Posted on FB. Not sure how to post it here thought.
