There’s nothing worse than a picture with bad lighting. And if you’re a blogger, you know the drill…..NATURAL light is BEST.….Don’t use your flash! We hear it over and over again.
But what’s a blogger to do this time of year?
You’ve got this great dinner recipe you’re dying to share with your readers. But by the time you prepare dinner (and make your family wait while you photograph it) all the good light is gone.
If you have a dSLR camera, you have a few choices; use a tripod, and super low shutter speed and hope for the best, use the dreaded on camera flash (yuck), or spend some dough on a speedlight, ego lights or some other sort of studio lighting.
But I recently came across a fantastic little gem! It’s genius really………
It slides easily over your camera’s hot shoe and redirects your pop-up flash to a ceiling or wall.
Lightscoop® is a smart low-tech device that creates soft, flattering light by redirecting your camera’s pop-up flash to a ceiling or wall.
The Lightscoop is a fantastic affordable alternative to an external flash. No more red eye and overexposed faces from using the pop-up on camera flash. You get portability, simplicity and affordability, at just $29.95.
Take a look at these shots I took of my daughter one evening in my office. (all shots are straight out of camera)
See how much warmer and more natural the picture on the right is? I am totally impressed with quality and dimension achieved byt the Lightscoop!
Here’s another example with some goodies we made one day ……..I’m shooting with a large window to the left, but it was a dark and rainy day. So after the first few shots I realized I just wasn’t going to have enough light (and I didn’t like my props lol)…..the shot on the right was taken using my Lightscoop! much better!

Oh, my gosh Cheryl, I am going to have to get that. I have one ego and was debating about getting another but this looks like just what I need!
That Lightscoop looks awesome! I would love to try one! I’m horrible at photos, and most of it is because I don’t have the whole “lighting” thing down. I bet this would help me A LOT!

I would LOVE to win this! It would be amazing to be able to take pictures without the harsh pop up flash. My husband is a huge photography buff and he’s supposed to be photographing my sister’s wedding so this would be a huge help!
Where has this been all my life? I SO need one of these! I either use my monster flash attachment or spend a ridiculous amount of time editing and tweaking my photos to try and make them look better with the built in flash. Thanks for sharing it {and my fingers are crossed I’m a winner!}
This looks perfect for me! I’m a new dslr owner and take lots of pictures inside of my kids. This would especially be helpful in the winter without a lot of good natural light!
I subscribe!
I would love the Lightscoop for taking pics of my little guy. I hate to use the flash but he’s one speedy monkey so if I don’t, I miss the shot or it’s blurry.

I linked up! 🙂 Thanks so much for hosting!
I currently despise having to use the flash (only because I don’t have the Lightscoop yet). I have to use my 50mm lens to catch my fast moving kiddos in action and sometimes, I’m just not going for that kind of photograph. Lightscoop will expand my options!
Oh, I so need one of these. My house doesn’t have a great deal of natural light except in the kitchen where the bay window is. It gets old trying to take all my pictures in the kitchen! My granddaughter is 7 months old and growing by the minute. It’s much easier ot get shots of her with a flash, but it’s so harsh. This would be perfect.
Thanks for the chance!
I subscribe to your blog.
I linked up! As always, thanks for hosting! So much that I’m lovin’! 🙂

I could really use this because we have sooo little natural sunlight in our house and it makes it hard to take good pictures!
Tweeted! 🙂 (@momendeavors)
The lightscoop would SAVE ME! I have ZERO direct sunlight in my whole apartment, & my toddler moves too fast for no-flash photos.

The Lightscoop would change my pictures so much. I am always taking pictures of my kids in their classrooms and the lighting is horrible. I can only imagine how much they would improve. And the pictures at Christmas OMG they probably would turn our better than ever. I could go on and on…
I just started getting into photography and pay attention to when the natural light in my house is best. I know what time, and what parts of the house, etc is best for taking great pictures. But, those times aren’t always convenient for taking pics especially candid shots or not well lit rooms. So I would love a Lightscoop.
Thanks for hosting this blog party! That gadget is a great idea! I don’t have a camera that I can attach it to, though. But, I found something awesome to help me: the site http://www.picnik.com/home You can fix photos so they look sooo much better!
Believe me, I feel your pain! I end up taking pictures of food at night, and it’s so hard to get the lighting right. The picnik site is so awesome! I’m so impressed, i’m actually going to go back and do ALL of my previous photos, even though it will take a lot of time.
I tweeted. @HappyClippings

Oh the Light Scoop looks wonderful! I think it would let me take better pictures quicker so I could dig right into the food. I don’t have much control over myself lol.
