One Saturday in June for the last 13 years, downtown St. Louis turns into a sea of pink. And every year, for the past 11 years our family has been there, along with the other 60,000-70,000 other people for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
We walk in memory of my husband’s sister, who walked with us the first year and lost her battle the following year. Words can’t describe the feeling in that crowd!
“There is no way to describe it other than a mass of humanity looking to bring a singular happy ending to thousands of frightening stories.”

xoxo,
Vanessa
i love what you’ve chosen — we have VERY similar tastes because most of these you posted i found around on-line this past week and fell in love with their sites already…. but not those brownies or hoop handbag —- those are being added to my list!!
Having lost my mother in 1986, I find this a special cause, as well. At The Pampered Chef, we raise money each May. We have special pink items with $1 of each product going toward research. It’s my favorite month special. The fact that you continue on in her memory is a testament to her life.
Great picture story!
Thanks so much for highlighting my laundry room post!!
Have a great day!
That gave me chills! How amazing! I’m in St. Louis and I can’t wait to walk it someday!
Thanks so much for the feature, Cheryl! Great features… those little sugar cubes are too cute!

Congratulations to you and all your family members for participating again this year in your memorial Race for the Cure! Can’t think of a better way for a family to spend the day together than by bringing hope to others. Wonderful Cheryl!
Great features/party as usual:) That’s so great that you have made the Race for the Cure a family affair!
Those are great pics! That is a LOT of people! I’m glad the weather was decent this year for you all.

Cheryl, thanks SO much for featuring my Coke can printable!! You rock!! It’s so fun to see these pictures of St. Louis! I grew up there… sure love that city! 🙂 Enjoy your weekend!
Thanks Cheryl! xo
Great pics from the Komen event! We attend the one in Columbus, OH & it looks very similar – people as far down High St. as the eye can see & I saw someone with a number in the 64K range, so it’s about as many people. Hopefully someday we won’t have to all be there.
I love that you race for the cure – we lost my dear cousin (just 3 mos. younger than me) last year to breast cancer, She was diagnosed at age 30 and fought it for almost 10 years.
And I always love your Wrap Up. I would love to be carrying that flowered bag!!
Love your photos of downtown St. Louis. I’m from that area, but now living in PA. I miss it every day!
I just love that your family does that every year! What an amazing time to come together.
{PS….thank you for linking the brownies!!!}
It’s so great that your family does the Race for the Cure every year. A close friend of our family has recently won her battle with breast cancer, so it’s especially close to us, as well!
Lots of great links this week, too!
