Most of you know that I LOVE photography!
A few years ago I tried my hand at a 365 photo a day project (I made it all the way thru mid October!) and now I pretty much take photo’s every day with my iphone. I love capturing my family’s life as it happens. Some of the photos I get are “print worthy” but many are not, and that’s ok, because they are pictures that remind me of Allison’s first date, or the how our tongues turned blue from the candy we ate, or moving Heather into her first apartment.
Getting the “real life moments” is something I’d love to learn more about, so when I heard about a new e-book by one of my favorite bloggers/photographers, Rebecca Cooper I knew I need to get my hands on it QUICK!
For those of you who don’t know Rebecca, she’s talented beyond belief and blogs at Simple As That. She is a professional photographer and mother of four children, who recently returned home, with her family to Alberta, Canada, after living on a tiny island in the Dutch Caribbean. She is the author of two previous photography eBooks, 40 Top Tips for Better Photos and Don’t Say Cheese!, and has now has published her third, titled Real. Life. Photography. She was recently chosen as one of ten bloggers who experienced a once in a life time trip as a Great Barrier Reef Queensland Blogger Correspondent hosted by Problogger and Tourism Queensland.
Rebecca’s latest photography ebook, Real.Life.Photography inspires us to pick up our cameras more often and to look for the magic in every day moments. The 70 pages are jam packed with tips and tricks for taking amazing photos in all kinds of real-life situations.
Take a peak:
Each page is full beautiful real life photos. Rebecca shares exactly how she got the shot as well as her camera settings! This book is easy to read and understand for the novice photographer, yet full of inspiration for those with a little more experience.
The book even includes a chapter on enhancing your photos; quick fixes, Photoshop short cuts and even solutions to common mistakes! Christy from Addy Lane has made a set of actions called Simple Fixes Actions that are the perfect compliment to Rebecca’s e-book. They work for both Photoshop Elements and PS. I love that when paired with Real.Life.Photography., they can turn your everyday moments into magical memories!
Here’s a shot I took of my mom with our girls, using some of the Simple Fix actions
Nothing crazy or drastic, just simple and sweet.
WIN IT!

Living in the Australian bush, I absolutely love to capture photos of the great outdoors – sunrise and sunsets, rain clouds approaching or dust storms rolling in, the joys of farming life as we go about our daily chores mustering stock, animal husbandry, preparing paddocks for sowing or the craziness of harvest time and of course there’s maintaining machinery – the simple joy of capturing different aspects of our families livelihood and creating a visual story of times gone by that generations following us can treasure forever
There’s also all the wonderful wildlife to capture, echidnas, emus, kangaroos, wallabies – just to name a few or the gorgeous nature that surrounds us…

Real Life photography is something I’ve been thinking of moving into with my business. I love photographing children (babies on up) and families. I would love to get this book and have liked both TidyMom and Simple As That on Facebook. I’ve been struggling in an over populated market in my area to find my niche and I think this is as no one in my area is doing it!
I enjoy taking pictures of my kids. I have so many pics of them on my computer that I’m
afraid I’m going to crash my computer! I’m sure if I went through and got rid of the lousy
shots, I’d have a ton less.
I like Tidy Mom and I will go now to check out Simple As That! Sure I will be liking it too.
