How to Gift Cinnamon Honey Butter in Jars
The sweet and creamy honey butter is unbelievable on just about anything and makes a darling gift in a jar! (printable cinnamon honey butter recipe here)
Jar Supplies You Will Needed:
- Homemade Cinnamon Honey Butter
- 3 1/2 pint canning jars
- fabric (I used unbleached muslin)
- jute twine
- tinsel twine
- “holly” ribbon
- cardstock paper
- 1″ circle paper punch (optional)
- tiny hole punch (mine is 1/16″)
- scissors
Let’s Make Honey Butter Gift Jars
First, you want to cut three pieces of fabric into 5-inch circles
After you have made the honey butter recipe (just takes 5 minutes) and filled the clean jars, remove the rim from the jar lid and place the fabric on the inner lid piece of the filled mason jar then screw the outer lid back on over the fabric (see image below).
Next, using cardstock and your computer, print tags (or you can handwrite them for a more personal touch. I used the font “Cheryl Hand”, size 15, center alignment and I laid it all out using the template in Word for 1.6″ circle labels. Then printed it on my cardstock.
Cut out the cardstock tags with a 1-inch punch (or you could cut them out by hand).
Then use a tiny hole punch (I used a 1/16th) to punch a hole on the tags to thread twine through.
Cut a long piece of twine for each jar and wrap it around each lid several times and tie in a knot.
Next, cut a piece of tinsel twine long enough to go around each lid with enough extra to twist together for each jar. Wrap each piece around the lid and twist ends together.
Add a small piece of “holly” ribbon to twine on each jar and thread tags onto twine and tie.
And you’re done!!
Homemade food-related gifts, like this Cinnamon Honey Butter, are inexpensive to make, fun to create, and a joy to receive.
Don’t forget to make enough to have a jar for yourself!
Add a loaf of homemade bread, pound cake, and DIY Stenciled Holiday Towel and you have a fantastic gift from the heart that took less than an hour to make from start to finish!

I love new ideas for homemade gifts…thanks for a great post!
Awesome gift idea!
I like spanish christmas in navidad.es
In your photo, you’ve used ‘clover honey’ & ‘salted sweet cram butter’. Are they different from regular honey & butter? I’d love to make these because of the rave reviews!
Any pure honey and real butter is what you need.
Love this! Just wanted to let you know that I’m including it in my post “Top 10 Gifts in Jars” today Feel free to stop by and grab a button or link for your page to show that you are featured! Thanks!
I just made a small batch of this butter… I wanted to test it before making jars as gifts and it is CRAZY delicious!! Heading out tomorrow to buy some lovely jars to make gifts for all the teachers at my sons school. Thank you for taking the time to post this amazing idea…. So simple, So tasty and (thankfully) So different from the run-of-the-mill edible treats everyone seems to give!
What a fun idea!! Can’t wait for the pound cake recipe too – so much better than another boring store gift!!
I just made the butter (a quadruple batch) to give with mini banana bread loaves. It is delicious and so easy!
These look awesome..just wondering on their shelf life ( assuming that everyone doesnt eat them up in the first week?) Thanks
Butter has a shelf life of 3 months for unsalted butter and up to 5 months for salted butter
Is that storing in the refrigerator or in the pantry? I want to do these for my wedding favors & want to do them in advance but need to know how they should be stored
It’s butter, so you should store it in the refrigerator.
do you have to seal it like youre canning it or just put the lid on it?
just a lid because you’re going to be using it – not storing it
Hi this may be a silly question but the powdered sugar is that icing sugar?
Could i he margarine in place of butter?
Could I use margarine I place if butter?
I love this idea. I am going to use local raw honey and organic butter to boost the health benefits this holiday season. Thanks for sharing it. And for everyone questioning using margarine, grass fed organic butter is sooo much better for you than margarine. Butter contains butyric acid which feeds the cells in your colon. Margarine often contains trans fat or hydrogenated fats which are shown to be inflammatory. Inflammation is a key player in poor heart health. Choose whipped butter if you are looking for less cholesterol and saturated fat. Remember too, it’s about moderation. You probably won’t be eating this whole jar in one sitting… although it may be tempting.
Sounds great! How many jars will this make???
3 half pint canning jars
I hope you don’t mind, but I just gave you a shout out on my blog:
Those jars are beyond adorable – thanks for the idea 🙂
Hello! So I gathered up all the stuff to make these except 2 items! Where did you find the holly ribbon and the canning jars? I have been everywhere and can’t find them!
how do you set up the 1.6 circle template in word?
So I made this delicious recipe last night- love it! We’ll be shipping out our Christmas packages tomorrow. My question is- after I made the cinnamon honey butter, I put it all in 1/2 pint jars and I threw them in the fridge, just seemed appropriate. So is it fine to just ship them without any ice or anything? Will they still be good when they get to their destination?
I made this today with the pound cake to deliver to friends for christmas tomorrow. I’m glad I made extra because both are ridiculously amazing. I used pure honey so it didn’t come out very smooth but it melts juat fine into warm bread. I found the jars easily too. Target has them and Hobby Lobby had them 40% off in the glass aisle.
Thanks for the recipes and the adorable decor ideas!
This recipe was great. Where can I purchase the exact jar shown with the recipe? They make the perfect gift.
What would happen if you eliminated the sugar? Thanks!
Who wouldn’t want to receive this??
I am totally doing this for Christmas gifts! THANK YOU for sharing! The only question I have is, the bread recipe (original one) says to form the bread into a circle. The ones you have packaged in your photo look rectangular. Did you make pound cake instead? Or, did you make your bread as loafs? THANKS! 🙂
not sure what bread recipe you are referring to, but I have in the post “Add your homemade bread or pound cake,” – both are linked to recipes. My photos are with the pound cake
1 cup honey & 1 cup sugar!!! Oh my! Isn’t it too sweet???
