Happy New Year!! I hope 2014 is off to a happy start. Have you set any goals for the new year? I’m still thinking mine thru…..but I have decided to do something good for me. I’m on a green smoothie kick!
A few months ago I discovered SimpleGreenSmoothies.com. I had never had a green smoothie before, and to be honest, they didn’t sound all that exciting to me, but I was super intrigued after reading thru the Simple Green Smoothies site, so I signed up for their newsletter.
Before the holidays I was starting to feel really run down, all the time……no energy. A few weeks ago I remembered reading about how green smoothies can help you with energy, and the Simple Green Smoothies site was FULL of lots of green smoothie recipes, then…..as if they were reading my mind, I received an email with 5 recipes for green smoothies AND a shopping list of ingredients! They made it so easy for me, I couldn’t say no!
I know it’s so cliche to say “I’m going to eat healthy” or “I want to lose weight” for new years, but I’m not going to do this, not expecting to lose weight – I’m doing this to feel better.
WITH SIMPLE GREEN SMOOTHIES BY YOUR SIDE, GET READY TO BOOST YOUR ENERGY, LOSE WEIGHT EFFORTLESSLY AND MAKE HEALTHY EATING A LIFESTYLE— NOT A DIET.
That line right there sold me! Each recipe they sent me, makes 2 servings – so I headed to the store with my list, and if you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen what I came home with! the shopping list made it so effortless! After I got home I did a little prep work, to make sure my ingredients didn’t go bad, and to make sure I never had an excuse not to have my green smoothie each day!
Jen and Jadah, the masterminds behind SimpleGreenSmoothies, have a few tips for Green Smoothie prep for busy people.
You can cut and measure each of your smoothie recipes, and place them in a resealable freezer bag, without the liquids. Then mark the bag with the name of the recipe and what you need to add when you are ready to blend!
They lay out all of the details about how to freeze your green smoothie ingredients here. Be sure to read the comments too, they are fabulous about answering questions…..so don’t be afraid to ask them if you have a question, even if it’s been asked a million times, they will answer YOUR question!
They have a 30-Day Challenge a few times a year, and of course, one started on Jan 1. So far, I’m in for 10 days, that’s what I stocked up for.
If you’re a fan of green smoothies, and have a favorite recipes, I’d love for you to share it in the comments!

Thanks for the party. I try to add spinach to every breakfast protein smoothie I make. I depends on how much I have and what mood I’m in. Hope you’re off to a great 2014!!
I just started with green smoothies too. Love the idea of pre-packaging and freezing! I’ll have to try that! Hope you have a wonderful 2014!
Love the idea for the smoothies! Thanks for another great party!
Awesome idea for pre-bagging the smoothie ingredients! I am definitely doing that!
Thank you for the party, Cheryl! Happy New Year!
We love green smoothies! My favorite thing is adding a bunch of veggies to mine and the kids love them. I feel super sneaky!
Hi Cheryl! I love green smoothies! Such a great way to start the day. I hope you had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
I love green smoothies, I just need to motivate myself to make them in the mornings! My go-to recipe is greek yogurt, almond/soy milk, lots of spinach or kale, frozen fruit, banana, and ground flax seed. Fills me up in the morning longer than anything else!
I sometimes make kiwi smoothies and I absolutely love the taste! Not to mention you get a great boost of vitamin C 🙂 I think you share a great tip about using the Ziploc bags to pack and freeze the ingredients. Never thought of it before, but it seems great when you’re in a hurry!
Thanks for hosting the party as well. I’ve added a link back to it in my post (#51) and I’m also following you on Twitter, Facebook and, of course, Pinterest 🙂
Hope you’re having a great evening, Cheryl!
Love, Nathalie
Thanks for hosting Cheryl!!! That green smoothy looks delicious right now!
Hey there, I think your blog might be having browser compatibility issues.
When I look at your blog in Safari, it looks fine but when opening in
Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up!
Other then that, great blog!
Thank you so much for the party, Cheryl! I hope that you have a super Happy New Year!!!! 🙂

Cheryl, You have definitely inspired me to jump on the green smoothie bandwagon! THANKS for all the links!
Happy New Year Cheryl!! Thank you for another fun party, happy Friday 🙂

I love the idea of pre-bagging green smoothie ingredients! Must try soon!
AWESOME on the smoothies Cheryl. I actually started mine yesterday – I’m anxious to see where it goes.
Happy New Year – hoping 2014 is AMAZING for you.
Cheryl the timing of this is perfect. I just posted today about my beginners journey into green smoothies. We simply aren’t eating enough vegetables or fruit and Santa brought us a Vitamix. I was afraid candidly that green smoothies would be, well, gross-tasting, but all our experimenting has been great. Will check out your resource and thank you for sharing it.
I am still thinking about my resolutions too. What a great idea to have all the smoothy incredients cut and prepared in the freezer!
I’m on a smoothie kick too-love them-especially the green ones!
That is such a brilliant tip! I’m totally going to check out that site and start doing this!
I just tried a “green” smoothie last night! I normally make myself a protein fruit smoothie after working out. Last night I added some spinach to the smoothie and it wasn’t too bad. I think I’ll add a little more next time and I want to try adding kale.
That’s a pretty neat idea. I am also on a green smoothie kick and usually just improvise each morning with what’s available and sounds good. I might have to give this method a try. I’m sure it’s a time saver!
Happy New Year! That is a genius idea and what a time saver. I need to add more greens to my diet and this is so simple!
It’s 2014!!! Please stop by BeBetsy and check out our new setup, we think you will enjoy it!
Thank you for hosting this great party.
~~ Seasons Greetings,
Sharon, Denise & Aubrie
I do have a favorite green monster smoothie recipe! I love that you’re freezing the ingredients beforehand!
Thanks so much for sharing this! I’m definitely interested…just didn’t know how to begin. I definitely will be doing it to feel healthier….more veggies & fruits. I also love the idea of freezing the packages! That eliminates “wondering” each morning and a quicker smoothie.
Happy New Year to you and your family!
xo

Great way to get set up for the week! I use a tun system in the freezer but I’ve been meaning to try it this way too. Couldn’t be easier!
{Hopped over from Simple Bites’ Weekend Links Post} Freezing ingredients in single-smoothie bags is so simple and so smart! Thanks for the idea and for introducing me to simple green smoothies!
I see your one shake says Almond Joy. Can you share that recipe?
Mary you can find all the recipes at SimpleGreenSmoothies.com
Thank you for sharing! My great grandma swears by green smoothies and I keep buying ingredients, but they go bad before I get brave enough to try them. If I can prep them ahead of time and freeze them, I’m much more likely to give it a shot!
Thanks for sharing simplegreensmoothie.com and the 30 day challenge! I drank green smoohties this summer but when the weather turned cold I quit and forgot about it. So I need this challenge.Plus I am excited about the new recipes.
Love the combinations for green smoothies you made so far Cheryl. My favorite is Green Tea Green Smoothie: http://jeanetteshealthyliving.com/2012/01/beginner-green-smoothie-recipe.html
Hey There. I found your blog using msn. This is a very well written article.
I’ll be sure to bookmark it and return to read more of your useful info.
Thanks for the post. I will definitely return.
Love the frozen ingredients tip for green smoothies, Cheryl. I’ve been making them for about 3 weeks now and lately my un-recipes have been so bad my toddler won’t drink them…and she eats EVERYTHING. Will definitely be checking out that site for recipes tonight. Thanks so much for sharing.
you are so smart to do this! and such a time saver in the morning! love this idea.
Love the idea of freeing the ingredients in kits, I make my smoothie and put the second serving in a mason jar with a lid a freeze it for the next day. I stick it in the fridge the night before and its ready in the morning.
I have been making a green smoothie from Giada’s Feel Good Food book for healthy living, I didn’t think I would like it since it didn’t have yogurt or many fruit but I love the ginger kick, It has 1/2 c water, 1 celery stalk cut up, 1 apple, 1 c spinach or kale, 1 inch of ginger peeled, 1 1/2 c ice. It also called for flat leaf parsley but I didn’t have any so I omitted it.
I visited many web pages but the audio quality for audio songs present at this website
is in fact wonderful.
eight) Disconnect the system (or in case using Facebook log off as
well as record last) & take pleasure in the recreation.
Within a few minutes, the problem had gone away, but I was left a bit curious as to what caused the problem, and whether it would come back.
They began patrolling to observe zombie and bandit
activity, and to find food and other supplies.
very nice one would love to try it for myself
You know, one of my gym friends just became crazy about green smoothies. This seems like an efficient way to do it – I might have to give it a shot now! Thank you!
I bought a bag of 6 indivually bagged green smoothies from Sam’s in the freezer. They are ok but not organic?
I will try making my own. Our fruit is always frozen blueberries with spinach so it’s simple but we add organic turmeric, ginger, Ceylon cinnamon, magnesium, college powder with coconut milk.
I wonder if we can freeze the herbs.
I really like the idea of bagging the ingredients individually.
