I got some really great gifts for Christmas this year and I can’t wait to share some of them with you over the next few weeks.
Back in October I went to Dallas for the I Heart Faces Conference and my good friend Amy picked me up from the airport. After a quick hug, the first thing I noticed was the stylish and inspiring wrap bracelet she was wearing.
As soon as I got home, I had to look it up and was even MORE impressed by the company that makes the bracelet, Good Work(s) Make a Difference ®.
Created by momprenuer Helena Cho, each colorful bracelet is embossed with a number of uplifting and motivating phases such as “forgive,” “strength,” be aware,” “faith,” “freedom,” “accept diversity.”
But, here’s the best part…… Good Work(s) is a brand with a purpose ..…not only do these bracelets make you look and feel good, but, by purchasing one you are helping to do good! 25% of the net profits go to good causes. By helping those in need, Good Work(s) is able to send girls to the prom who couldn’t afford their dresses and help children through college when their mom has passed away from breast cancer. In 2012 Good Work(s) had a goal is to move 120 homeless families off the streets and into furnished homes in their “Home Sweeter Home for the Homeless” campaign. As soon as I laid my eyes on my Amy’s bracelet, I knew I had to have one but after reading about this celebrity loved fashion, I wanted one even more. So, I sent the link to the Silver Come Together Metallic Bracelet to my daughter with the subject line “Santa gift”;)
I love mine so much, I would love to give 2 TidyMom readers the Happy Days Wrap Around Bracelet, winner can pick the color.

Love the bracelet and the idea behind the business. I recently started a meal train for a family at church after the loss of a family member,
It’s heartening to see so many of your readers have BIG hearts. Kudos to all!
I try to do my part everyday – be it just a smile or a hug. Life is too short – kindness and compassion go a long way!
Peace.
This Christmas we always exchange gifts at Christmas dinner at my sisters home. This year we decided, instead of exchanging gifts to one another, that we would do some kind of charity (either individually or as a group). We chose a local Childrens Home. They were caring for over 80+ children in dormitories there on site and in foster homes. So with the help of family and friends we took on the whole center (home). Two truck loads of gifts for the children. The most awesome feeling. Thank you for the opportunity.
My aunt just finished up her chemotherapy sessions from battling breast cancer. She collects angels because we always say “there is an angel watching over us, to get us through anything”. I found an antique angel poem with angel wings in it to lift her spirits and to remind her daily that she can overcome anything! She cried and hugged me tightly and placed it right where you walk in for all to see. For christmas I bought her a large christmas decoration for her table with an angel dressed in red to add to her collection, I barely got in the door before the tears ran down her face. PRICELESS!!
I dropped my carpool co-worker off at the door at work during a rain storm so she wouldn’t have to walk all the way from the parking lot in the rain.
I volunteer for the miracles of Mitc foundation which helps pay the house payment or other bills of children who are in the hospital (mostly for bone marrow transplants_ – often parents cannot work while they are tending to sick children and they fall behind in payments. This organizations assist with those payments so they dont lose thier homes. http://www.miraclesofmitch.org/
Been doing lots of little random acts of kindness throughout the holidays. Buying coffee in Starbucks for the people in the drive-thru behind me. Delivering cookies to the office staff at school, sending goodies through the mail as surprise anonymous treats. All have made me feel so much lighter and I believe brought more joy than any of the recipients
Thanks for the opportunity.
A good friend is terribly sick with morning sickness. I’m trying to help her out by taking her three kids one morning a week – which means I will have 5 kids from ages of 2-5 all at once:) And make/take her some frozen meals so she can feed her clan even though she can’t really eat much right now.
Volunteer as a 4H leader and teaching girls to sew and picked a little boy’s name off the Angel Tree and gave presents to him at Christmas.
I’ve been nursing my husband back to health after a serious infection including giving daily infusion of antibiotics in his pic line and then helping him recover from hip replacement surgery, and also my 17 year old son had a serious back surgery that required constant care. I really can say I considered it an honor to be able to do this for my wonderful family because they have done the same for me. God has blessed us so much!
I reached out to my 18 year old sons friend this morning, who is obviously suffering from depression, and cant talk to his parents about it. Now he knows there’s someone to talk to.
Cook and bake for family members that are going through health battles.
Hi, I wanted to share that right now I am working on a entry form to submit my AUnt Linda for a program called Queen for a Day. She is an amazing woman who is currently battling stage 4 liver cancer at the age of 69 young. During this time of chemo and diagnosis she has continued to run her business which is a greasy spoon style restaurant that caters mostly to the local hunters and fishermen. She has had this business for over 30 years. If she is selected she will be honored with a procalamation for Queen for the Day with a robe, sash and a small party, makeover and possibly needs of things that she has not been able to do for her house, such as new windows or roof. I am not sure what they will decide but her business struggles to stay afloat and yet she is still receiving cancer treatments all the while. She brave, strong and a very amazing woman who is also a widow with no children. She also recently lost her mother and a brother all in 2 years time this all has taken place. I do hope she will be selected for this great honor in March. I am hoping my written words will be blessed by God and that she is chosen.
I helped pay for a woman’s groceries when she didn’t have enough and was going to put many things back. I felt so bad for her and know that we all need a hand once in a while.
I donate blood as often as possible.
I am currently the guardian to a 17 yr old young man whose mother has been charged with emotional abuse. He went to live with his father and his dad passed 2 weeks after he moved in. He knows my family but is no relation to us and asked if he could stay with us for a while. After much prayer, we said yes. We don’t receive assistance of any sort for him nor have we asked for any. We aren’t doing it for accolades and applause … we are doing it because this young man needs to know what unconditional love is, just as our Savior loves us.
Such a great idea these bracelets!!
Currently I have just started working on our summer VBS for the kids, this is my 14 year as director… this year the theme is Kingdom Rock.. how cool is that?????? Castles and princesses etc for the kids… YAAAAAY!!!!
I featured a friend’s new link party on my blog this week… she has a great idea about making this year all about acts of kindness, and I wanted to spread the word
I also donated toys to goodwill and helped out a friend at work with a mess of a project she had. What a great way to have a give away! thank you!

Something good i’ve done for someone else. I don’t know. That is something I am going to add to my list of things to do each day. Besides loving and playing with my kids.
This Christmas I made boxes of goodies and gave them to my mentors at my thesis lab as well as my supervisor. And my chiropractor, simply because he helped my body make it through exams, haha.
I’ve been involved, through a group in my church, in making lap quilts for single moms with new babies and for the elderly in care homes. We’ve even given some to homeless individuals. Each time we have given them away, we have been told how appreciative the individual has been to receive such a lovely quilt and how much they enjoy having it.
Something nice that I have done for someone else recently was just listening to them 🙂 They are going through a hard time and just needed someone to listen 🙂
My husband was killed this year in a tragic accident and every month my 11 year and I are picking a person/group that needs something abnd will give what we can in Dales name
I’ve tried to be in the moment for my friends. Listening, giving time and encouragement, hugs. I try to “be there” in every way possible. This is something I’ve done for awhile, and didn’t think it mattered until a friend noted the other day that I “don’t interrupt, stay in the conversation, and really listen without offering unsolicited advice.” She needed that as she is going through a rough patch…
So many of these posts are so inspirational!
I helped to reunite my husband with his son and now they have a relationship where he is able to be a part of his son’s life.
My New Years resolution is:
Did I love enough?
Did I laugh enough?
Did I make a difference?
I go over every minute of my day each night before bed. I have never slept better!!
I love the theme of this! Happy New Year! I take my elderly parents meals once a week.
I brought my neighbor some homemade treats when I knew she was feeling down.
As an elementary principal, we started a Pay It Forwad Day at or school. It is so inpiring watching our kids do something kind or offer a kind word for others. It has inspired my self to d one random ac of kindness daily. Other good deed I’ve accomplished lately is taking a meal to coworkers who have had surgery. Thanks for this opportunity and allowing others to share their good deeds.
I gave my elderly neighbors a gift bag with homemade shortbread cookies and a box of earl grey tea.
As a personal trainer I have several clients and sometimes my days can get pretty hectic. BUT I like to take the personal part to a whole other level by not only customizing my clients workouts but by also shaping our conversations to make our time together fun and inspiring. I also print out healthly recipes (from my favorite bloggers), articles and information that is beneficial to their success. They’re all unique and special and I want them to know, that I know that too!
I took my 10 year old nephew in last year, and have been raising him with my children. It’s been one of the toughest things I’ve done being a foster Parent, but I love him, and my sister is is mother, so it’s the right thing to do.
I have forgiven…
I bought a soldier behind me in line at Subway his dinner last week.
I helped my very good friend by caring for her 10 week son so she could get some rest! I remember those newborn days! Nothing like a nice nap to recharge the batteries 🙂
Walked an elderly lady (93) to her car after a late night show. She was one sweet lady who I couldn’t believe came out by herself.
A friend helped us out quite a while back but I always felt that my ‘thank you’ wasn’t enough. We picked up a gift card for a local restaurant for her, but we put it in a Christmas card with a note of thanks and a ‘Random Act of Kindness’ tag but no signature. The best part was seeing her teenage daughter’s Facebook post about it and reading about their surprise! Even better than giving it to her in person; I feel that I thanked her and I don’t have to worry about her thinking it was ‘too much.’
My girlfriend is a single mom with 2 great daughters. To help her out I bought her daughter’s birthday cake from a great bakery. We also gave each of the girls some money to spend on a shopping trip.
I had a frantic call from a friend to come get quick. Once I got there, discovered it was domestic violence, I took her from the house and later returned with her and stayed for support.
I helped an elderly lady at the grocery store, she was in a wheelchair and needed a helping hand 🙂
We recently moved, and we donated all our food to a local church, over 80lbs worth! Couldn’t take it with us, felt good to help the hungry!
I am organizing a craft show at my church to help raise funds for a roofing project. I hope I am able to pull this off. Fingers crossed.
I usually do not talk about the things I do for others, as I believe in Random Acts of Kindness. I will mention one of my very favorite kindnesses, however. I LOVE to pay the toll or the fast food bill for the car behind us in line! It is a cool feeling and a true act because they will never pay you back… that is a true kindness act…. then we hope they pay it forward! 🙂
I lent my sister and her family my car over the Christmas holidays when she came for a visit for a week. Love my sis <3.
I loaned my car I had had for only about 2 months to a friend so they could get their car repaired this summer. I also have loaned my pickup to this friend numerous times so they could move. Just asked them to “pay it forward” as payment.
I moved in with my mom to take care of her.
For the past two years my mom has been in and out of the hospital for various reasons. Two years ago it was for a broken ankle and this last March she went in for exploratory surgery where they found she had a near-fatal strangulated hernia. She then went to a nursing home that belonged in a horror movie. She nearly died of a blood clot when they ignored her call light and the cries of her her concerned roommate.
During this time I made sure she to keep things upbeat as well as make the house hospitable for her return, cook dinners for her and my dad, go full time to college, and work at my part time job for 20 hours a week. During the summer when she came home and was stuck on one level of the house I made her breakfast and lunch every day. I had to make lunch ahead of time because it takes around an hour to get to my work by bus and I worked from one to six five days a week.
Although I’m afraid I made this seem like a sob story, I really just want to get word out of how strong my mom has been and how proud of her I am. She calls me her “cheerleader”, but really she’s the backbone of our family and is well on her way to recovery.
We had a single mom and son over for Christmas Eve dinner, they are in this state by themselves with no family anywhere close by. It was a great experience for all involved, and I am glad we were able to do it.
I support a local animal shelter and purchased several dozen doggie toys for Christmas in addition to giving them a sizeable cash donation. I am also making doggie coats to sell online to give the profits to the shelter. They are trying to raise $10,000 to build a surgical center on-site so the animals aren’t traumatized by taking them off-site to spay and neuter before being adopted. They do good work and area no-kill shelter. I also go several times a month to play with and help walk the dogs to keep giving them human contact to make them more adoptable. I also forward shelter dogs info to friends and family on facebook in the hopes that they will help to get them adopted. Also lost and found dogs.
