If you are challenged by an empty wall, maps can often make a graphic statement, usually for little cost. Whether it’s a vintage print of where you live or a wall-size illustration of the world, a map can bring an unexpected punch to a room and at the same time make it more personal.
Earlier this week I shared my State Pride project I made for my office using an antique map print.

My map came from the Etsy shop, Ancient Shades. They have reproductions of old maps from all over the world. Every map in the shop has been restored and enhanced . They are not selling only prints of scanned maps, I hundreds of hours have been invested removing stains, folding signs, scratches; also some of the maps needed reconstruction of small missing areas.

My son graduated from college this year and has been wanting to decorate his first apartment with antique maps. I would ♥ love ♥ to surprise him with one of these beauties and have it framed!!
I would love to decorate a book shelf with maps.

I would love to have any of the Texas maps. My husband is from Gonzales, TX, home of the start of the Texas Revolution (Come & Take It). I would get the map framed for his office so he could show his Texas pride.

I was intrigued by the map of “hearts”. I am a big fan of the heart, and would love to have hearts cut out of the cities and countries maps we have travelled to.
Beautiful maps and exciting ideas on ways to use them! I would probably frame a map, but I would also consider decoupage onto a side table or onto one of my old boxes that I collect and refinish.
I would put a map of Paris over our bed – it’s where I got engaged!
I’d love to get a map of the west coast and mark all the lighthouses that my husband and I have visited, frame it and display it in our living room, right above our mess of vintage turquoise ceramics.
