If you are challenged by an empty wall, maps can often make a graphic statement, usually for little cost. Whether it’s a vintage print of where you live or a wall-size illustration of the world, a map can bring an unexpected punch to a room and at the same time make it more personal.
Earlier this week I shared my State Pride project I made for my office using an antique map print.
Decorating with maps is all the rage right now

My map came from the Etsy shop, Ancient Shades. They have reproductions of old maps from all over the world. Every map in the shop has been restored and enhanced . They are not selling only prints of scanned maps, I hundreds of hours have been invested removing stains, folding signs, scratches; also some of the maps needed reconstruction of small missing areas.
Take a look at some of their beautiful map prints:

Thank for the party this week! Those map prints are gorgeous! I would love to frame one or add it to a piece of furniture!
I have always been a HUGE fan of decorating with maps. We have a massive world map in the hallway outside of our son’s room, but I’d love to have the vintage Texas map somewhere in my office to remind me of home 😉
we are re-doing our 1st level and one of these cool maps would be perfect for the new decor! so fun, and as always thanks for hosting!!
Thanks for the party, as always!!! I love the maps, too!
Beautiful prints!
Thank you so much for the party, Cheryl!
I would do the 4 frame thing like you did
These are beautiful maps–and I would place one in our TV room–or my husband’s office…
LOVE the Texas map!
My husband and I have talked about using a map to track our travels with family and friends. It would be a family treasure!!
Those are some beautiful maps. I think I need to get the vintage map of Alaska for the wall of our cabin in Alaska, when we finish it next summer. What a great gift for my husband!!
If I won I would probably decoupage it on a tray or something like that.
I’d put it in a nice frame and hang it on the wall of our guest bathroom.
These maps are just beautiful. I would love to win one for my daughter, who is a library assistant, and she does arts and crafts with the teens that go to her branch. They are planning to decoupage keepsake boxes. Thank you for the opportunity for such a great giveaway.
Those are so pretty, but I don’t know where I’d put one in my house… Bummer…
Thanks for the party! Have a super weekend!
I would use them to frame pictures of 2 of my cats. They both showed up on my doorstep at different times. To me the maps would represent their travels as they got to my home. Thanks for the opportunity to win.
I would use a map, probably a full world one, as a centerpiece for a family wall collage using black and white photos.
Thanks so much for hosting, Cheryl! I’m loving all the map ideas! I have three boys, and I think maps are the perfect way to decorate a room for them. Have a wonderful weekend!
What a wonderful idea for decorating my son’s room. He is interested in learning about different places on the History channel. I would frame and hang on the blank wall over his desk.
I think Maps are so Cool in any setting 🙂
I’d frame the maps and hang them in our home office.
My girls heart maps! We would love one for our playroom.
I am looking for a great print to go on our mantle. I would like to get a map of Oklahoma pre-statehood. My family was here prior to statehood and it would be a great illustration for my kids when we discuss Oklahoma History and Indian Territory. I love researching my family genealogy and telling my kids about my discoveries. 🙂
Depends where it was from… I’d like to frame one of someplace where we have heritage, and talk to the kids about it…
First, I’d have an elaborate fantasy about traveling wherever the map led. Then I’d frame it, probably, or decoupage it onto a piece of furniture.
I’d love to get a map of Rome or Paris and frame it for my bedroom. I’ve two very special vacations there, that have meant a lot to me, and that would be a very cool, very precious reminder 🙂
Love the look of the old maps. Especially the world maps or maps with great color. Thanks for a unique giveaway!
I would love one framed in my new bedroom!
I’d like to use maps as wall paper inside a hutch or secretary desk.
We have a lovely world map on the ceiling of our guest room/television room and would love to add a framed picture of the world on one of the walls.
I’d love to craft with it, but I know my son also loves maps and would probably want to frame it ;- )
I would frame it to hang in my living room, and then use little pins to mark everywhere the Mr. and I travel around the US! Love it!
Thank you so much for hosting Cheryl! I love maps on walls! They are so fun and interesting! Angie xo
i’d frame an antique map print and put on the wall next to my pool table.
I would frame it and hang it in my bathroom.
Zomg, I need that Michigan print in my life! My husband is a collector of all antiques and that Michigan print would be perfect hanging in his office. Love it!
Those old map prints are works of art. I would hang them!
I’d hang it downstairs in our rec area
I would hang it in my front room.
I would frame it for my kiddos room!
I would use it in the kids area.
Maps have always mesmerized me. I’ve been looking for a way to incorporate one in our family room, either on the wall or onto a side table.
Such a great decorating idea!
Very cool Cheryl. My kids love maps of all kinds- so they would definitely put it to use in their school area.
I’m not too creative to do any of the great ideas you pictured, but I do have two grandsons that just love maps. I think the hemisphere map would be great for either of them and I would just have it framed for them.
I am redecorating my boys’ room and would love to use a world hemispheres map as a focal point.
I love maps. I would pick the vintage US Map or Map of Scotland, because we went there this summer. I have a map in my son’s room where me pin the places we’ve visited. Thanks for the giveaway and the link party.
oh how i love maps. i recently, ok this summer, started using them in decor. i printed one out and stitched the route of one of our road trips. looks pretty cool so i’d probably do something similar for a different road trip we took
Frame it and hand in my family room.
We are in the middle of re-decorating our office and a map would be perfect!
I’m redoing a spare bedroom into an office, loved your idea from this week, would hang it my new office.
