If you are challenged by an empty wall, maps can often make a graphic statement, usually for little cost. Whether it’s a vintage print of where you live or a wall-size illustration of the world, a map can bring an unexpected punch to a room and at the same time make it more personal.
Earlier this week I shared my State Pride project I made for my office using an antique map print.
Decorating with maps is all the rage right now

My map came from the Etsy shop, Ancient Shades. They have reproductions of old maps from all over the world. Every map in the shop has been restored and enhanced . They are not selling only prints of scanned maps, I hundreds of hours have been invested removing stains, folding signs, scratches; also some of the maps needed reconstruction of small missing areas.
Take a look at some of their beautiful map prints:

Hello! This is my first day on here! I’m a new mother, and a mostly stay at home mom! it’s so amazing so far and my daughter is only 4 1/2 months. your tips on cleaning i will surely use! We need more decorations in our home! It’s Pretty Bare! Those maps are beautiful!! I just love the feel they would bring to our home! We have a giant white barn door style sliding door in our living room that slides to close off my daughter’s room and i think one of those beautiful maps would look super lovely in an old window pane on that wall! Oh that is getting me too excited, i need to go clean and decorate right this minute! Thank you for the inspiration!

I was a geography major in college and am obsessed with maps, especially vintage looking ones! I love the panoramic retro maps from antique shades. I would probably frame it in a really neat way and put it in my daughter’s nursery. I want to expose her to maps as much as possible and one of these would grow with her for sure!
