Cookie expert, and blogger Bridget Edwards guides you through more than 60 delicious cookie-decorating designs for every occasion and holiday in her book, Decorating Cookies: 60+ Designs for Holidays, Celebrations & Everyday. Bridget shares her favorite cookie dough and royal icing recipes along with easy-to-follow instructions and step-by-step photos and for an added bonus, five guest-star baker-bloggers each share a special decorating technique in the back of the book!
Over the course of 4+ years since I started blogging, I’ve had the opportunity to meet some incredible people, and lucky enough to call some of them friends. Bridget, of Bake at 350 was the very first blogger I ever connected with.
It was over cookie decorating. I had fallen head over heals in love with her site and how she makes swinging a bag of royal icing over a cut out cookie look so simple.
I decided for Easter 2009 I was going to try decorating cookies with royal icing. I ran into a bit of trouble and shot off an email to Bridget while I was up to my ears in pink and green icing, squeeze bottles and tooth picks.
You know what happened?!……….she emailed me right back!! I’m pretty sure that night we emailed back and forth as Bridget walked me thru my first batch of decorated cookies!
That was the beginning of our friendship!
Now here we are 3 years later and Bridget has published her talents, Decorating Cookies: 60+ Designs for Holidays, Celebrations & Everyday so she can help you! Just like she helped me!
I’ve had the honor of spending time with Bridget in person on a few occasions – you may remember she was the first blogger I ever met in person, when her sweet hubby surprised her with a trip to come see me!
Not only is she filled with creativity, but she oozes kindness, and class! Not to mention on heck of a sense of humor.
Don’t think this book is only for seasoned cookie decorators. Bridget’s knack for teaching cookie decorating is ideal for the beginner and seasoned cookie decorator. The nicely organized book is full of step by step cookie decorating instructions, including basic techniques to master (like Bridget’s favorite, the flat dot), a detailed section on equipment and supplies you will need, recipes and……my favorite part, a troubleshooting section!
See I told you, it’s just like having Bridget right with you while you work!
Click the picture to see some of the decorated cookies I’ve made over the last few years thanks to Bridget’s help.
I’m in awe at how talented Bridget and all the other cookie decorating ladies are. I often get frustrated that my cookies are perfect, but Bridget always reminds me that “other people will just see a beautiful cookie, not your mistakes” and “you can always eat your mistakes!” HA!
Look for Decorating Cookies: 60+ Designs for Holidays, Celebrations & Everyday at your local bookstore, and online at Amazon and Barnes and Noble. With the holidays fast approaching, this book would make a perfect addition to add to the gift shopping list!

SO excited about this book! My last cookie attempt was disastrous… I need the help!
I would love to learn to decorate cookies. I think it would be fun to do with my grandkids. Something special we could do together. Thank you for the give away!
Wow she is quite the master of the kitchen!
I love Bake 350 wedsite. I use Bridget’s sugar cookie recipe and Royal icing recipe for my cookies and I am never disappointed. She has made me a better baker!
We LOVE to make decorated sugar cookies. We do it for all the main holidays. It was a tradition in my husbands family that they did every Christmas. All the family would go over to his grandma’s house and decorate cookies that she had made. When we got married and moved away, we continued the tradition with our girls. We have never missed a year yet that we didn’t make cut-out cookies to decorate!! Love to win her book because I decorating is much simplier (and messy..lol). I would love to learn how to make the cookies beautiful. Great giveaway!!
Would love to learn how to make the royal icing!
Just tweeted about the book and entry @goducks71
I usually try and decorate cookies for Christmas, but nothing this elaborate!
I have cookie cutters–I have meringue powder. Now I need a book! 🙂
I’ve never decorated cookies like this. That’s not to say I haven’t wanted to, I just can’t seem to jump in and do it for fear of failing. I think this book could be a tool that would push me over the edge and try it. The cookies, yours and the ones shown from the book, are just amazing!
I enjoy decorating cakes and would love to give cookies a try!

I have tried to decorate cookies with not so good results. From what I seen on your pictures you make it look easy. Would love to win this book.
I have always wanted to learn how to decorate cookies, but it seemed like is was to complicated for me to learn. Last year I got sick and diagnosed with a rare illness that could put me in liver failure again. I keep telling myself I will learn how to decorate cookies tomorrow and then when tomorrow comes, I will do it another day. Since I never know when I am going to be sick or how bad I will be, the things I have been putting off, I am starting to do. I have done a bunch of things on my bucket list and this one as simple as it sounds, is one that I would love to learn for Christmas. If I won this book, it would give me the push to learn and hopefully surprise everyone ( my 5 kids and hubby) at Christmas with some awesome cookies. SO yes, I would love this book and hopefully learn how to make some amazing cookies like you ladies 🙂
I tried my hand at decoating cookies…would love the book so I can learn some techniques. I also pinned the giveway
