Cookie expert, and blogger Bridget Edwards guides you through more than 60 delicious cookie-decorating designs for every occasion and holiday in her book, Decorating Cookies: 60+ Designs for Holidays, Celebrations & Everyday. Bridget shares her favorite cookie dough and royal icing recipes along with easy-to-follow instructions and step-by-step photos and for an added bonus, five guest-star baker-bloggers each share a special decorating technique in the back of the book!
Over the course of 4+ years since I started blogging, I’ve had the opportunity to meet some incredible people, and lucky enough to call some of them friends. Bridget, of Bake at 350 was the very first blogger I ever connected with.
It was over cookie decorating. I had fallen head over heals in love with her site and how she makes swinging a bag of royal icing over a cut out cookie look so simple.
I decided for Easter 2009 I was going to try decorating cookies with royal icing. I ran into a bit of trouble and shot off an email to Bridget while I was up to my ears in pink and green icing, squeeze bottles and tooth picks.
You know what happened?!……….she emailed me right back!! I’m pretty sure that night we emailed back and forth as Bridget walked me thru my first batch of decorated cookies!
That was the beginning of our friendship!
Now here we are 3 years later and Bridget has published her talents, Decorating Cookies: 60+ Designs for Holidays, Celebrations & Everyday so she can help you! Just like she helped me!
I’ve had the honor of spending time with Bridget in person on a few occasions – you may remember she was the first blogger I ever met in person, when her sweet hubby surprised her with a trip to come see me!
Not only is she filled with creativity, but she oozes kindness, and class! Not to mention on heck of a sense of humor.
Don’t think this book is only for seasoned cookie decorators. Bridget’s knack for teaching cookie decorating is ideal for the beginner and seasoned cookie decorator. The nicely organized book is full of step by step cookie decorating instructions, including basic techniques to master (like Bridget’s favorite, the flat dot), a detailed section on equipment and supplies you will need, recipes and……my favorite part, a troubleshooting section!
See I told you, it’s just like having Bridget right with you while you work!
Click the picture to see some of the decorated cookies I’ve made over the last few years thanks to Bridget’s help.
I’m in awe at how talented Bridget and all the other cookie decorating ladies are. I often get frustrated that my cookies are perfect, but Bridget always reminds me that “other people will just see a beautiful cookie, not your mistakes” and “you can always eat your mistakes!” HA!
Look for Decorating Cookies: 60+ Designs for Holidays, Celebrations & Everyday at your local bookstore, and online at Amazon and Barnes and Noble. With the holidays fast approaching, this book would make a perfect addition to add to the gift shopping list!

I would love to learn how to improve decorating cookies…..I always try to improve my skills and this would help
I LoVe to use royal icing to decorate cookies with detail, but I am not magical at it. Last year I made Christmas cookies and Halloween funny monster cookies using royal icing. My son has a severe treenut/peanut allergy, so all of his baked goods and breads and treats are from scratch by me. So when I found out about his allergy, I taught myself lots of fun things to make my same old cookies fun and exciting for him and my 3 other kids. This book would be a great addition to my ongoing “from scratch” learning! 🙂
I have done alot of cake decorating and would now love to try cookies! I just think decorated cookies would be such a great addition to any event!!!
I would love this book! I don’t bake as often as I’d like, and I could certainly use the “help”!
