Are you ready?!!!!!!!!
Today is the day. The day we celebrate breakfast ! It’s time to grab those aprons and share your favorite breakfast recipe that includes dairy. Link up at the end of this post (or share in the comments) and you will be entered to win a $250 Amazon gift code. (details below)
Why are we celebrating a dairy breakfast? Because the California Milk Advisory Board and I have teamed up to talk about the importance of a nutritious breakfast, that includes dairy. We want to remind you that, not only is the calcium in dairy important for growing strong bones, but it’s also packed full of protein.
Have you seen their commercials? They were the inspiration for our partnership. They show how California dairy can be a part of everyday family life, like breakfast. Go check them out here – my favorite is the California cow singing in the shower while the family enjoys breakfast downstairs! lol
Last week I flew to Orlando to visit the Daily Buzz TV and talk about this very issue and share the recipe for my Southwest Baked Egg Cups with California cottage cheese and other varieties of California cheese. Check it out!
Nutritious Breakfast includes Dairy
Adding dairy to your breakfast, can help you from becoming hungry before your next meal. Kids who eat a nutritious breakfast may learn better and even do better in school, because they are less likely to have hunger pains, such as -being tired, getting headaches or even become cranky.
The first step to making sure your kids eat a nutritious breakfast, is to set a good example, by making healthy food choices . Make sure YOU are eating breakfast. Keep simple grab-and -go foods on hand such as California cottage cheese and yogurt cups, string cheeses and fruit. You can even make a breakfast casserole, such has Southwest Baked Egg Cups or Creme Brulee Baked Oatmeal the night before. Store in the fridge, and simply heat in the microwave the next morning.
Ease Morning Routines
Mornings can be a crazy time in any household, whether you have little ones to help get out the door, or not. Ease the morning scramble by getting everything ready the night before, such as: back packs, signed permission slips, lunches, even car keys and cell phones. Have them all gathered and in a designated spot, either by the front door or on a table. That way you avoid that morning panic when you can’t find a jacket or homework paper that is due.

Thank you for hosting! I added a recipe for Pumpkin Pancakes.
I also added a recipe for a 12 egg frittata!
Crock Pot Apple Oatmeal:
4 cups regular oatmeal
4 regular apples, diced
1 Tbsp cinnamon
4-6 Tbsp brown sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
pinch of salt
8 cups milk
Stir together dry ingredients inside crock. Add milk and mix well.
Cook in pot on low for 3-4 hours or high for 2-3 hours.
This makes a lot(16-20 servings) that I put into individual serving containers(placed in fridge) that the family then eats throughout the week. Usually adding in more milk when reheating in microwave. I have also used frozen peaches in place of apples.

I left an awesome spinach quiche recipe!!
Heres my recipe for a breakfast including dairy:
before you start making breakfast in the morning, its easier to prepare it in the evening.
Mix up:
2 cup instant riceflakes (u will find it in the section for babyfood)
1 cup instant rolled oats
1/2 cup cane sugar
1 tsp vanilla powder
the next ones are changeable, use whatever u like!
1/3 cup:
sunflower seeds
chopped nuts (walnuts, almond)
hempseed
flaxseeds
or fruit like: dried cranberrys, apricots, cherrys
store in an airtight container.
in the morning, u take 1 cup milk, or if u like it more rich, take one cup half and half. heat in the microwave for one minute, until its hot.
stir in 1/2 cup of the mixture, and heat it for another minute in the microwave. if its still too thin (depends on ur microwave), heat it for another half minute.
eat it straight as it is, or with a dollop of cream, yoghurt and fresh fruit!
this is a healthy breakfast that is whipped up in a minute in the morning, that means: more time to sleep!
A also left a recipe for sour cream blueberry fridge oatmeal!! Thanks!!

My Mother gave me this recipe more than 30 years ago. She got it from my step-Dad’s niece, which is why we call it “Ione’s Breakfast”
9 slices buttered french bread, cubed
3/4 cup grated Swiss cheese
1 cup grated Jack cheese
1 lb cooked bacon, crumbled
3 cups milk
6 eggs, beaten
1 Tbls Worcestershire sauce
3/4 tsp each: salt, onion salt, and mustard
Spread bread in buttered 9×13 dish. Sprinkle with cheese and bacon (saving some of the cheese for top). Beat eggs; combine with milk and seasonings. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight. Bake for 45-60 minutes at 350 until brown and bubbly. Enjoy!

My Mom’s Spanish Eggs
1/4# bacon
2 large cans chopped tomotoes with chilies
6-8 eggs
1 onion
1 pkg. 4-cheese Mexican Cheese
Fry bacon & onions until brown and tender. Add both cans of tomotoes and stir. Make “wells” in tomotoes and break eggs into the “wells”. Put a lid on pan and lower the temp. to simmer. The eggs will poach in the tomotoes to your desired set. We like ours hard so I keep ours in longer than you might. Just before they are set to your liking, spread cheese over the top of the mixture and cover again just until the cheese melts. Enjoy!
Breakfast is my favorite. Thanks for the post! Here is a fast recipe that’s easy to make “to go.”
