Back to School Pictures

I mentioned the other day, we started back to school Monday. Isn’t that insane? it’s the middle of the summer. What happened to school starting in the fall?
If I was president I would make ALL schools start after Labor Day! haha
Some days I can’t fathom the thought that our youngest is walking the halls of high school and driving!
Life moves SO fast sometimes………we need to remind our selves and our children, who always want to “grow up” so fast……to SLOW DOWN stop rushing thru life and appreciate the moments that you have now!
Like many families, every year we take the traditional “first day of school pictures” before she hops in her dad’s truck for a ride to school. I think he’s enjoying that ride this year more than ever, since it will probably be the last year she will need a ride. {sniff sniff}
I don’t think my parents took first day of school pictures when we were growing up, so I ‘m not quite sure when the trend became so big. But it’s certainly fun looking back at the outfits the girls put SO much thought into, what hairstyle trends they were sporting, and what backpacks they carried……… it’s a tradition they always look forward to on the first day of school!!- we should take “mom’s first day” pictures to and see how grey she turns each year! {or NOT}
Getting ready for a new school year is such a big part of your childs life, shopping for school supplies, a new wardrobe, meeting new teachers, making new friends……have fun documenting some of those details with your camera.
My friend Rebecca of Simple As That has a Back to School Photo Checklist you can download and print for free! So when you are teary-eyed dropping those little ones off on their first day you can use this list and be inspired with her photo ideas and prompts, before you blow kisses as they walk thru those doors to a new chapter in their life.

I don’t remember taking first day of school pictures as a kid, but I plan to do them for my daughter when she starts. I haven’t really thought about doing anything fun with them, but we’ll see….
We take first day of school pictures every year and I treasure those! I put them on our yearly photo calendar (for the next years start of school) and I use them in our scrapbooks. With my two oldest headed to Kindergarten and First grade this year, we have lots of fun pictures ahead!
I am, of course, a Tidy Mom fan on FB!

I don’t, but i regret it every year!!
We take first day of school/ back to school pictures every year. We don’t necessarily do anything fun, but I let my daughter pick out her outfit and then pose with her backpack and lunchbox.
I do take back to school pics of my 3. But it’s usually a rushed affair and with my 2 younger ones not cooperating much! My oldest girl (7th grade) is more than happy to be photographed at ANY time 🙂

You can never have enough back to school pics or enough money to spend on the kids at Target!
We don’t take back to school pictures because my son goes to school all year (it’s a preschool). I know once he starts elementary school, we’ll definitely do them, though!

My daughter picked out her favourite flower dress and pink sparkly shoes!! She even got to take a silly picture before her nice picture!! 🙂
Sad to say that I don’t have any children nor grandchildren. Before I retired I worked with teen moms and their children. I miss that so much as I have such a great love for children I have enjoyed all my nieces and nephews so much. I have a 7 year old great niece. She is the light in my life. I do many things with her and take her a lot. I thank God that I have her in my life. I thank you for offering a great giveaway. Anyone would love to win that as I could myself, could take my favorite little girl shopping. We both love doing that…I take many pictures of her and also give her a camera to take pictures..I have her scrapbooking with me, now…So much fun..
I don’t have any children, but my parents always took the back-to-school photo. 🙂
My daughter starts kindergarten later this month and I’ll absolutely take pics of her.
We always take back to school photos and I really enjoy looking at the new special outfit and supplies with that freshly excited to go face.
My oldest starts preschool Monday so this is a great reminder to take a back to school picture! Can’t wait to dress it up inspired by this:)
I’m ashamed to say I never thought of back to school pictures. Whoopsie! I’ll change that now!
P.S. I think your commentluv is out of order 🙂
My daughter isn’t ready for school yet, but I am always taking “artsy” photos of her, and we frame the photos to use as art around the house! Even if the pics are just of her toes, eyes, etc. 🙂
We don’t take back to school pictures, but we do snap pics all year long because we home school.
Thank you for offering such a generous giveaway! No kiddos for me, but my sister and I always had our photos taken on the first day of school. During elementary school we usually had perfectly curled hair, some sort of hideous culotte or cartoon character outfit (it was the 80s!) and new backpacks. I think I stopped allowing my picture to be taken when my sister took cosmetology and I became her guinea pig. Again, it was the 80s, and crimping irons were VERY popular. *shudder*

My kids are grown but my son takes photos of my ( young) grandkids getting on and off the bus on their first day of school.
It’s cute to see the kind of unsure looks on their faces in the morning and then the happy faces getting off the bus after school 🙂
great idea. i SHOULD take those pictures!
I don’t have kids, but trust me we get so many pictures emailed to us by everyone with my husband’s neices and nephews (the little one’s) going back to school!

And you do not feel sad that the children grow so fast? Still yesterday there was a small package from the hospital, and today a little man, actively stomping legs and climbing everywhere. Or here yesterday the kid who is not able to speak plainly, but today he is almost an adult little man, who expresses his thoughts well.
I look at my children, and right away … the elder in a couple of years will go to school, will not be so much in need of a mom, there will be friends. She will not talk, lie down, read before bed … the younger I enjoy every minute, he is still a year old, but it seems that only recently I went pregnant …
