Back to School Pictures

I mentioned the other day, we started back to school Monday. Isn’t that insane? it’s the middle of the summer. What happened to school starting in the fall?
If I was president I would make ALL schools start after Labor Day! haha
Some days I can’t fathom the thought that our youngest is walking the halls of high school and driving!
Life moves SO fast sometimes………we need to remind our selves and our children, who always want to “grow up” so fast……to SLOW DOWN stop rushing thru life and appreciate the moments that you have now!
Like many families, every year we take the traditional “first day of school pictures” before she hops in her dad’s truck for a ride to school. I think he’s enjoying that ride this year more than ever, since it will probably be the last year she will need a ride. {sniff sniff}
I don’t think my parents took first day of school pictures when we were growing up, so I ‘m not quite sure when the trend became so big. But it’s certainly fun looking back at the outfits the girls put SO much thought into, what hairstyle trends they were sporting, and what backpacks they carried……… it’s a tradition they always look forward to on the first day of school!!- we should take “mom’s first day” pictures to and see how grey she turns each year! {or NOT}
Getting ready for a new school year is such a big part of your childs life, shopping for school supplies, a new wardrobe, meeting new teachers, making new friends……have fun documenting some of those details with your camera.
My friend Rebecca of Simple As That has a Back to School Photo Checklist you can download and print for free! So when you are teary-eyed dropping those little ones off on their first day you can use this list and be inspired with her photo ideas and prompts, before you blow kisses as they walk thru those doors to a new chapter in their life.

My son started kindergarten this year! Of course I took his first day of school picture. I can’t wait to get more back to school pictures and make a collage or something out of them!

I always take pics. My son is going to be a sophmore and he still hates that I take pics on the first day.
My son just started school less than a year ago. So, this fall will be his (our) very first back to school year! I definitely will take pictures to document it. I think it’ll be fun to take pictures every year and create a scrapbook for these events! 🙂

I always take a first day of school picture in the same place, right by the back door, so we can see how much they have grown since last year.
I’m a fan of TidyMom’s Facebook page, of course. 🙂

i dont take first day of school photos
My daughter is in first grade, so we have taken ‘first day of school’ photos both years. I think it is something we will continue, especially when my son starts kindergarten in 2 years.
I also follow you on FB!
I would totally take first day of school pictures once my kids are in school! I would be a terrible photographer if I didn’t…
I remember my mom taking photos of me when I was a kid going on the school bus the first day of the year.

I take a picture of my boys holding a sign of the grade they are in! I am also lucky to work at the same school my boys go to so I get lots of GREAT pictures all year long!!
This is the first year that my 4 year old will be in pre-school and I intend to do what my mom did… first day photos on the front steps clutching a lunch box! My mom put my photos in one album, so as an adult, I could re-live every school year page after page. As a teen, I thought it was no big deal, but as an adult, that is one of the photo albums that I most cherish! I hope that my son loves his album as much as I love the one my mom did for me.
My son isn’t old enough for school yet, but I’m definitely going to be doing first day of school pictures every year when he does.
THis year I’m going to use signs that say the kids grade on them and take their picture with them. I have one starting First Grade and my other one goes to Preschool.

I love back to school pictures!!!!!!!!!!! My good friend Danica and I even took them together on our first day of college!
My daughter starts Kindergarten this year, and we will take lots of first day pics, including some with her holding a first day of kindergarten sign. I hope to do this each year. We did take pics on the first day of preschool as well. So cute to see how quickly they change and grow up…
My boys are still little but they do go to a little class once a week. I try to take their pictures with their backpacks/diaper bags. They look so tiny holding them all by themselves. I don’t always get it on the first day because they love to run off when I have the camera… or when I don’t have the camera… they just love to run!

my little guy hasn’t started school yet but when he does I WILL be taking pictures. LOTS of them. They will be part of his school years scrapbook that I plan on doing.
We always take back to school pictures by our front door, in front of the school and waiting in line on the playground after the bell rings 🙂
When my kids were in school, we took pictures on the first day every year, they’ve been out of school 10 and 8 years. I still haven’t done anything w/ the pictures..but I have them!
Our oldest started Kindergarten at home this year, and we took some pictures of him working on school work, but I didn’t get a full-body shot. Oh well, it’s still early–I can fudge it. 🙂
I just liked Tidy Mom on Facebook. I can use all the help being tidy that I can get!
… And I just liked Cherokee USA as well. Thanks for telling us about their other giveaway!
I take photos each year on the first day. In the front of the house with their new backpacks and lunch boxes and I sneak one in as they walk up to the bus stop. We also take a photo of the all of the new school supplies before they get loaded into the backpacks!
Yea, I liked tidy mom on facebook too!
We definitely do pictures, I have my daughter stand in front of our front door with her backpack and lunch kit 😉
I like to take back to school photos myself because I don’t like the quality of the school ones. I like to compare them from year to year and see how the kids have changed.

I love to take pictures of my two girls at every age and stage. Taking first day of school pictures is a MUST!! 🙂
I’m hoping to take pictures of my little girls soon for this school year. I’m thinking…bare feet and pigtails, and some old books for props. 🙂
