Back to School Pictures

I mentioned the other day, we started back to school Monday. Isn’t that insane? it’s the middle of the summer. What happened to school starting in the fall?
If I was president I would make ALL schools start after Labor Day! haha
Some days I can’t fathom the thought that our youngest is walking the halls of high school and driving!
Life moves SO fast sometimes………we need to remind our selves and our children, who always want to “grow up” so fast……to SLOW DOWN stop rushing thru life and appreciate the moments that you have now!
Like many families, every year we take the traditional “first day of school pictures” before she hops in her dad’s truck for a ride to school. I think he’s enjoying that ride this year more than ever, since it will probably be the last year she will need a ride. {sniff sniff}
I don’t think my parents took first day of school pictures when we were growing up, so I ‘m not quite sure when the trend became so big. But it’s certainly fun looking back at the outfits the girls put SO much thought into, what hairstyle trends they were sporting, and what backpacks they carried……… it’s a tradition they always look forward to on the first day of school!!- we should take “mom’s first day” pictures to and see how grey she turns each year! {or NOT}
Getting ready for a new school year is such a big part of your childs life, shopping for school supplies, a new wardrobe, meeting new teachers, making new friends……have fun documenting some of those details with your camera.
My friend Rebecca of Simple As That has a Back to School Photo Checklist you can download and print for free! So when you are teary-eyed dropping those little ones off on their first day you can use this list and be inspired with her photo ideas and prompts, before you blow kisses as they walk thru those doors to a new chapter in their life.

My little one is not quite ready for Kindergarten, but I can’t wait to take pics. We took ours in front of a giant tree in the front yard. It was a cherry tree I think. It was beautiful to see us in our uniforms and this little pink tree. Then year after year, more little girls (I’ve got 3 sisters) joined the photo and year after year we grew as did the tree. Love it.
My mom used to line us all up in the kitchen and we would have to do model poses. It was awful at the time, but looking back… we were fabulous!

When we were little my Mom always took pictures of my sister and I outside right by our garage. I’m not sure why she did this it made for a horrible backdrop but I’ll give it to her she was consistent.
My daughter is just 2, so I don’t have to worry about back to school pics for a while!
Growing up we occasionally took a first day of school pic by the bus stop. I wish we did it every year!
I remember my mom doing them when we were younger! Only for the first few years though.
My oldest starts Kinder next fall and I will taking pictures for sure! As I bawl like a baby ;o)

I have the desire to take cool back-to-school pics. My oldest is starting 1st grade, so it’s definitely time to create a yearly tradition!

My baby is only a week old, so no back to school pics yet. I’d like to think that I would, but honestly, I’m terrible at taking pictures. Thankfully, my sister is a photographer so we’ll just set up some photo shoots.

I always snap a few pictures of the kids on their first day each year. Nothing special, but it’s fun to see how they’ve changed year to year.
Not quite ready for school pics at our house, but when I was a little girl it was a must!
We’ve always homeschooled, and I admit that I’ve never made a big deal about back to school photos. However, our son will be going to public high school this year, and I’ll probably try to sneak in a photo if I can get away with it. This is a big day for him, and we’ll want to remember it in our scrapbooks!
Thanks for the chance to win! ~Sally

I take pictures of my kids on their first day back to school. Nothing out of the ordinary. Thanks for this very generous giveaway!
I take a photo outside our house in the same spot each year and by the school sign and classroom door. Then, on the last day of school, I do the same thing to compare how she’s grown.

We do a picture on the front porch every year…new clothes, backpacks, big grins…that’s about it!
When my little ones start school (next year) and every year after that, I will be taking first day of school photos. =D We didn’t do this growing up, but I wish my mom would have. It would have been fun to look back and see how we changed every year.
I take a back to school pic of my husband, a teacher, but we don’t do anything special yet. When our son starts school I’ll have to get a little more creative.

With great reluctance, my three girls always get their picture taken on the first day of school. It is always great to compare to the last year. They change so much from year to year and it’s a great way to savor the memories!!
I always take a photo of both of my kids at the front door with their backpacks on the first day of school.
My kiddos aren’t old enough for school yet, but we took pictures every year when I was little.

For the last 3 years I have home-schooled my eldest daughter. I am big on kids not having to miss out on things just because I have the excuse that we are just staying home, so we make a huge deal out of the first day of school. On the first day of kindergarten we decorated her desk chair with balloons, and she reciprocated with an apple for the teacher. “that’s what they do in the old movies!” We usually do a school themed baking project with the neighborhood kids. Photos chronicle the whole day. Those memories last a life time… I still remember the red sailor dress I wore to my first day of kindergarten thanks to my dad’s picture taking! This will be the first year my girls go o school outside the home, and we are excited to capture all the mornings excitement.
Yes I do and we have a scrapbook we put them in

I like to snap a picture of my son going down the sidewalk of his school looking back at me(with his backpack). It’s amazing to see how much he grows & changes each year. My little man is growing up too fast (2nd grade).
Can’t forget to take the back to school pics. Nothing fancy, but they are always taken in front of our house. This year I did have the kids hold up the number of fingers for the grade they are in.

I don’t take back to school photos yet, since my son is only 1.5, but I definitely will when he starts school! I’m in no rush for that to happen, though 🙂
