Back to School Pictures

I mentioned the other day, we started back to school Monday. Isn’t that insane? it’s the middle of the summer. What happened to school starting in the fall?
If I was president I would make ALL schools start after Labor Day! haha
Some days I can’t fathom the thought that our youngest is walking the halls of high school and driving!
Life moves SO fast sometimes………we need to remind our selves and our children, who always want to “grow up” so fast……to SLOW DOWN stop rushing thru life and appreciate the moments that you have now!
Like many families, every year we take the traditional “first day of school pictures” before she hops in her dad’s truck for a ride to school. I think he’s enjoying that ride this year more than ever, since it will probably be the last year she will need a ride. {sniff sniff}
I don’t think my parents took first day of school pictures when we were growing up, so I ‘m not quite sure when the trend became so big. But it’s certainly fun looking back at the outfits the girls put SO much thought into, what hairstyle trends they were sporting, and what backpacks they carried……… it’s a tradition they always look forward to on the first day of school!!- we should take “mom’s first day” pictures to and see how grey she turns each year! {or NOT}
Getting ready for a new school year is such a big part of your childs life, shopping for school supplies, a new wardrobe, meeting new teachers, making new friends……have fun documenting some of those details with your camera.
My friend Rebecca of Simple As That has a Back to School Photo Checklist you can download and print for free! So when you are teary-eyed dropping those little ones off on their first day you can use this list and be inspired with her photo ideas and prompts, before you blow kisses as they walk thru those doors to a new chapter in their life.

I don’t have kids and we didn’t take these photos growing up but I wish we did! I agree with you – it’s fun to see what outfit was picked out, the hairstyles, etc…I will definitely do this when I have kids 🙂
Time is flying by and Cheryl I’m so with you on the whole, ” labor day” thing, my kids went back last week. I take a photo of them in the front of our house and I typically share it with family and facebook friends.

I love taking pictures of the kids especially back to school. My 10 year old loves to dress up and pose and have her picture taken. I share them on facebook with family and friends that we dont get to see all the time and make scrapbook each year with photos from the school year.
I liked Tidymom on Facebook for quite some time <3
Don’t take back to school pics because we homeschool – the first day lacks the drama involved with dressing in new clothes, getting on the bus, etc. But we still love your offer of a gift card to Target! Thanks!

My daughter is entering First Grade in less than one month, so we are just starting on the photo traditions. Last year we took a picture with her holding a sign with her teacher’s name, her grade and the date in her brand new cloths. The last day of Kindergarten we did the same thing in the same outfit {she outgrew her leggings, so she had new one on}. It was fun seeing how much she grew.
I tweeted the giveaway : )

My little one isn’t in school yet, but growing up we always took a first-day-of-school picture on the sidewalk leading up to our house. Lots of those in the photo albums! :o)
I shared on my facebook wall
Thank you for the chance : )
We still do back to school photos! A first day of school picture is a MUST. It is great to look back and see the changes from year to year.
I am a facebook fan!!
Love back-to-school season 🙂 My daughter is 3 so we will start pictures next year and I cant wait 🙂 I am/was (first year SAHM) a teacher and took a back-to-school photo every year LOL!
I already like you one facebook 🙂
My twin daughters are just starting Pre-School this year. The plan is to take their picture with them holding a “sign” that they have written their grade on. With them off centered in the photo, I want to photo shop a list of some of their favorites. (ie color, movie, etc.) Not only will they be able to see how their style has changed, their handwriting and likes will also be documented. I think it will make a great graduation present. Now I just have to remember to do it all each year. 😉
Went I was younger my siblings and I would all do different poses and such for back to school pictures
We do school year round, so we don’t do back to school pics, but we do take plenty throughout the year. They make for great memory reminders.

We definitely took the traditional first day of school pictures when I was little. I can’t believe some of the things I used to think were cool to wear…yikes. Fun to see how my brother and I changed from year to year, though!

I don’t have kids yet…but that doesn’t mean I don’t like to get in on the back-to-school fun! At work next week, I’m organizing a “School Spirit” week. I’ve gathered school pictures of our associates and I’m putting together a little matching game! I can’t wait to see what kind of photos our bosses bring in 🙂

Yes, we take back to school photos…I just usually print them out and keep them in an album, BUT – this is the first year I’ll have DSLR on the first day, so I may actually do something fun w/them! Yay! Maybe put them in a scrapbook? I know…sounds crazy…;) Thanks so much for the chance to win, Cheryl!
