How To Make Spooky Cupcakes with Chocolate Bats
I found these cute orange and black Wilton Cupcake liners a while back….so I decided on a simple dark chocolate fudge cupcake with deep orange-colored vanilla buttercream frosting.
We made our first attempt, with the chocolate bats, at using a candy mold…..um NOT as easy as it looks! lol
Too bad I hadn’t seen Cindy’s post first…check out her tips on using candy molds. But PLEASE don’t laugh at the poor job I did with the eyes and mouth! lol (In my defense, i had several phone calls while I was working on these! lol….so I’d like to blame them as well) *Friends don’t let Friends bake and talk on the phone!
No matter how they turn out….cupcakes are fun to make, and even more, fun to eat. They make the perfect treat for Halloween parties, or to have around the house for your little goblins.

Super cute! I think the bats turned out great!
awesome! i think the bats would look just as cute without the added eyes & mouths though…
You think anyone would turn down one of those cupcakes just because the eyes weren’t perfect? Not a chance. They look too delicious!

I don’t know what you’re talking about. Those are adorable. And I had so much fun distracting you. 😀
These are really cute. Love that you include the recipes!
Just made these tonight. These were THE easiest cupcakes to make. And you’re right, they are so thick unlike the runny batter you get from following the cake recipe on the box. Also, the cupcakes are delish! I made one box of devil’s food and one yellow. The chocolate turned out with a nice lift. The yellow cupcakes were flatter and didn’t rise quite as high. Might have been operator error because I turned down the oven after I saw the chocolate ones were cracking. Cracks happen because the batter rises too fast due to the heat. So I thought I’d lower the temp and avoid the cracks, but I think I lowered it too much because the batter overflowed before rising. This is my new go-to fast and easy cupcake recipe when I just don’t have time to make them from scratch. Thank you!!
Yeah, so funny cupcake! Great way to make perfect Halloween treat for kids! Nice job!
