How to Clean Your Washer

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a self cleaning house? Maybe our kids will have that some day (I bet there will an app for that lol)
Well, maybe my whole house can’t be self clean, but I love that my Whirlpool Duet Washer has a “clean cycle”! Heck it even let’s me know when it’s time to clean it!
I really depend on my washer and dryer to do a lot of work for me!
When I have stains, I can look up my stain right on my Duet Washer and it will tell me how to treat it, then I toss it in and let the Duet do all of the work for me. Sweet!
How to Clean your Washer
I know it sounds strange to clean your washer, since you’re running soap and water thru it every day – but that soap and dirt can build up. When my Duet sends me the message that it’s time to clean her, all I have to do is toss in an Affresh tablet, set my washer to the clean cycle and let Affresh work it’s magic for an hour while I go watch Vampire Diaries clean the toilets.
You don’t have to have a Duet Washer or even a clean cycle option to clean your washer. It’s recommended that once a month you remove clothing from the tub, drop in one Affresh tablet, set your machine on normal or clean cycle (if you have one) and select hot water.
The Affresh cleaner helps remove and prevent odor-causing residue build-up that can accumulate in all brands and configurations of washers. It’s amazing how after using these tablets the stainless steel barrel inside my washing machine is so shiny! Proving to me that the detergent and fabric softener can and does build up. So, if it is building up on my machine, imagine what it’s doing to our clothes? I can’t imagine NOT using the Affresh tablets in my washer!
Now, if could just find a self cleaning toilet…………..

I run a cycle with vinegar every once in a while but not as often as I should. Now we really need to find those self-cleaning toilets b/c that’s something I HATE to clean.

I clean my washer about once a month. I take a rag and spray mildew remover on it and wipe out the inside. Then I pour a cup on vinegar in the detergent bin and run it through a hot cycle. Does the trick! I’d like to try those tablets too though.

I’ve tried some of the cleaning solutions with bleach but they didn’t get the mildew out. I definitely need to try something else!
I’ve used a product from Sears before, but until this new product came out, that was the only place I knew that carried it.
I’m thinking I should probably wash my washer. We’ve had it 5 years and I haven’t run a clean cycle. Eek!

Once a month cleaning does wonders for cleaning them, doesn’t it? But I am definitely with you on the self-cleaning toilet! That would be an investment worth it’s weight in gold!!!

Yes I clean my washer and dryer, monthly or more often if needed. My Mom always did and I have done so since I left home. Whenever I wash thrifting finds [eewh], I clean it afterwards with bleach. For the monthly cleaning I use hot water, baking soda and vinegar. The dryer gets a disinfectant wash inside and out, also for outer washer, and a thorough vacuum. How can your clothes get clean in a dirty washer?
Um, please inform your family that I am coming over with 3 loads of laundry. I LOVE the self cleaning mechanism youhave on yours. More importantly, I never even knew there were cleaner tablets for them.
And I’m with you, how is it that we have all this technology but to clean a toilet bowl, I still have use the antiquated task of a scrubbing brush-GROSS!
