How to Store Homemade Oreo Fudge
This fudge is easy to store at room temperature — it will last for up to a week in an airtight container. But if you want it to last even longer, you can refrigerate it or freeze it.
Refrigerate
Transfer the fudge to an airtight container or zip-top bag and keep it in the fridge for up to two weeks. It’s best to store the fudge in a single layer but if you need to layer it, put parchment paper between the layers. You can also individually wrap the fudge with plastic wrap or aluminum foil.
Freeze
For longer storage, place the fudge in a freezer bag or container and store it for up to 3 months. You may want to flash-freeze it before bagging it or layer between pieces of parchment paper. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight.
KITCHEN Tips
- If your fudge is not setting you may not have heated it to a high enough temperature on the stovetop. It also may not have been cooked long enough or may need extra time to set.
- A big mistake when making fudge recipes is not watching the clock. Cooking for too long or too short of a time can result in fudge that isn’t the right texture or doesn’t set properly.
- When chopping the Oreos, leave them in small chunks.
- To achieve the whitest fudge possible, avoid scraping the crushed cookies off of the cutting board.
- Be sure to use condensed milk. Avoid using evaporated milk
- This recipe will make 16 bars but you can also cut them smaller so that you have 32 bars.
Variations + Additions
