Hello everyone! My name is Cindy Hopper and I blog at Skip to my Lou. I love arts and crafts and making home made gifts. I love a good book to read during the summer, do you? These button bookmarks will not only be a fun summer craft for your favorite summer read they would also make a sweet handmade gift. You might enjoy browsing through my Home Made Gift Guide for more gift ideas and see some fun summer crafts and activities we love creating. I hope you will come visit me!
This super simple craft is sure to pretty up your summer read!
You don’t need many supplies! Grab some fabric scraps, a covered button kit, and some blank bookmark clips. You will also need a glue gun and needle nose pliers.
To make this craft really easy make sure you get a covered button kit that requires no tools. These can be found at a fabric or craft store.
Remove the shank (metal piece inside of the top button piece) with needle nose pliers.
On the back of the covered button package it will give you a template so you know how big to cut the fabric you will use to cover the button.
Wrap the fabric around the button. Push the fabric inside, making sure to catch it on the teeth of the button.
Snap the bottom button piece to the back of the button.
Hot glue the button to the blank bookmark clip. How simple is that?
Now you are ready to getting reading!
What are you reading this summer?
Using her knowledge of arts and crafts (Bachelors Degree in Art Education) along with her practical experience (mother to children ages 17, 13 and 5), Cindy loves sharing her ideas on her blog Skip to my Lou, so that so that you can make memories with your family and friends. Her site is full of free patterns, downloads and I hope plenty of inspiration.
