Easy Window Cleaning tip

With all of the rain we’ve had this year, my windows are a mess!

I love that my windows tip in for cleaning the outside, but they only tip in on the bottom half making the top outside window ummmmmm….hard to clean!

Last week I couldn’t stand my dirty windows any more, we had a dry beautiful day….perfect for window cleaning!

Want to know my secret for cleaning the outside of my windows that don’t tip in?

I use my swiffer floor tool – wrap a few paper towels around it

spray the window with my cleaner – the use the swiffer to reach outside and clean the upper half of my windows!

Works for ME!!

Now I have beautiful CLEAN windows!!

you may also want to check yesterdays post for another “easy tip”

a GREAT easy way to fix Corn on the Cob!

    Tidymom,
I enjoy your blog and I can appreciate many of your practical ideas on cleaning techniques. However, having professionally cleaned windows for over 20 years, I feel it necessary to include some constructive criticism regarding your window cleaning tip. Several of your commentors mentioned either never having cleaned the outside of thier windows or that it had been quite a few years since cleaning them. Common sense would tell us that 8 years of dirt on a window can not be adequately cleaned off with just a swiffer and windex. In fact, you would probably just smear the window and it could possibly look even worse than it did.
By making a few simple adjustments to your suggestion, I think your readers would be more pleased with the outcome. You can still use the swiffer by slightly dampening it in a bucket of sudsy water and a small amount of ammonia. apply the mix to the exterior window with the swiffer. Then turn your swiffer over and attach a squeegee(Lowes for under $5) to opposite end of swiffer and use it to remove the mixture from the window with several long, horizontal strokes. Then use a dry towel or swiffer pad on the end of the swiffer to detail the edges.
After the learning curve on the first window, you can easily get proficient at it and it can actually be quite fun. I think you will like the results much better as well!
Please dont hesitate to visit me at The Window Cleaner if there is ever anything that I can help you or your readers with regarding window cleaning!
