Sugar Scrubs
I’m not all that crafty. I love small projects. I like simple and quick. I get too impatient for projects that are too involved. That’s why I was just thrilled when Domino® / C&H® Sugar contacted me about making something from the homemade gift section of their site.
I hadn’t given much thought to using sugar in a gift unless it was for baking something yummy! So, it seemed only natural to give their homemade gifts a try. Domino® / C&H® Sugar was kind enough to send me a $20 gift card to help with the cost, as well!- now who could turn that down?!
After checking out their gift ideas, I instantly knew I wanted to try their Sugar Scrubs!
These easy-to-make sugar scrubs can have all the glamor of a luxurious spa gift. Add a glittery ribbon, a scented candle and a soothing music CD as the perfect complements to your gift basket. It’s just the right way to relax after a long day of baking!

Who couldn’t use a little pampering around the holidays? Let me tell you, Allison and I both tried this, she was pretty skeptical about it and has very dry hands……she LOVED it! It made our hands very soft and silky!! – now she wants a jar of it! LOL
Disclosure: C& H Sugar provided me with a $20 gift card to help me with expenses in this project.

I love these scrubs, Cheryl! They make such fantastic gifts. Thank you so much for linking this up to Homemade Christmas!! 🙂
What a nice homemade gift for the holidays – I’ve heard sugar scrubs work really well. I’ve only tried salt scrubs.
i’m all about the homemade gifts – love all the ingredients in this sugar scrub!
Not to be a scrooge, but burning songs onto CDs and redistributing them is unethical and against copyright law. It deprives the rightful owners and creators of their royalty income.
I’m not selling the cd’s only gave them as gifts. I owned the original cd
So, I am going to make these for Christmas gifts. Perhaps different varieties, but my question is this….how far in advance can I make them? I made a peppermint foot scrub and an orange vanilla body scrub this summer, and they seemed to last awhile, but I was using them a few times a week, so they were getting stirred up a little quite often….not just sitting in a sealed glass jar. What are your thoughts? I was thinking I should whip them up right before giving, but making them ahead would be nice. Thoughts?
I decided to make this for my mother-in-law for Christmas. I wanted to use it before I gave to her as a present. I love it!!!! Just made my 2nd batch for ME! I hope she loves it as much as I do!
What is the shelf life on these scrubs and how much does each recipe yield? Thanks! Terra
Each recipe calls for 1 16 ounce jar……….so each recipe make 16 ounces
I’m not sure about the shelf life, we used it up pretty quickly
What is the consistency of the Brown Sugar one supposed to be? It seems the oil/sugar ratio is smaller giving it a thicker consistency than some other recipes I’ve seen. Just want to make sure that’s right.
I’ve wanted to make some of these for a long time now! Where do you find your Vitamin E oil and the cinnamon essential oil?
Thank You.
I think I willk make this for my 2 daughters for easter..LOL
These are really nice. I have 2 questions. Is the sugar you used just plain white sugar? Also, where did you get your jars?
OMG ! I have a new best friend!!! You are the best!
Thank you so much for this recipe I have two little ones and spend most of my day chasing them around by the time they are in bed I am very tired the sugar scrub has been a great friend in the evening to help me relax and unwind from a busy day. Thank you very much 🙂
I can’t wait to try some of these.
Where you do you buy the vitamin E and cinnamon essential oil? I might have to try this!
I found your page through a ‘Pin’ looking for ideas for homemade holiday gifts. The ingredients in the brown sugar scrub should prove to be wonderfully fragrant. It’s a bit early to make the gifts, but I will be testing them out…on myself!
I like your presentation, too. Simple, yet festive.

Can i use normal sugar?
Hi,
love how simple these are, but was wondering if a person could use like jojoba oil or almond oil instead of the olive oil. I’ve used olive oil before in a hand scrub and if I don’t use it right away, it seems to get rancid in a short period of time and I’ve heard jojoba oil has a longer shelf life? Also, I bought some vitamin caplets and thought I could open them up for the oil? Would this work, and if not where or where do you find the vitamin E oil? Thanks for your awesome scrubs though!
I made a small batch for myself and after using it made 12 jars for Christmas gifts. Thanks for the great recipe. My husband even used it to get grease off of his hands and it worked!!!
These will have a very short shelf life without a preservative — warn giftees not to get any water in the jars. That will introduce bacteria very quickly.
I love these types of DIY gifts that have so much more meaning than something bought! However, you had me at cinnamon. =)
