We are ALL amazing! Did you know that part of being amazing means we need to take care of our bodies, and that starts with taking care of our heart!
We as parents are all too aware that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and we can take care of our heart by eating a “heart healthy” breakfast. Breakfast has always been my favorite meal of the day, and nothing beats a quick and easy bowl of Quaker Oatmeal, it sets the tone for the rest of the day. I like to mix in a little peanut butter or top with some fruit and if I have a little extra time my family loves Baked Peanut Butter Oatmeal.
Eating right, exercise and education—are key steps to taking care of your heart.
Get a good breakfast. Every day.
Get enough rest.
Get regular exercise.
Find more time to enjoy life.
Maintain a positive attitude.
You’re never to old or to young to start taking care of your heart. February is American Heart Month and Quaker is celebrating by donating $1.00 to the American Heart Association for each current Facebook fan and every new person who “likes” the Quaker Facebook Page during the month of February (up to $250,000). The money donated by Quaker will benefit the AHA’s new program My Heart. My Life, which helps bring healthy cooking curriculum to after-school organizations across the country! In addition, Quaker will donate $1, (up to $125,000), for each new Facebook “like.”

My favorite way to eat Oatmeal is in a chocolate no-bake cookie, but I’m giving those up in hopes of losing weight. I actually made some for my husband to take to work yesterday and didn’t eat a bite. Sad. Now, my new favorite way of eating Quaker Oatmeal is with a little brown sugar – still delicious!

My favorite way now (to steal an idea from McDonald’s, which finally came out with a healthy breakfast item!). Plain oatmeal, add some maple syrup or honey to taste and add some walnuts, purple and golden raisins and apple bits. Yum!!!

I like to eat homemade oatmeal for breakfast. 1/2c oats, 1 spoonful brown sugar, a pinch of salt, plus a small handful of dried fruit and nuts. Add water and microwave for a minute and a half. Yum!
I like quaker on facebook as Missy Sunshon.
I love Quaker Instant Oatmeal – Strawberries & Cream and Peaches & Cream. When I was little my mom would make me oatmeal and stir in applesauce to cool it down. I still make my oatmeal the same way today 🙂

My kids’ favorite way to eat oatmeal is PBOH balls. It’s a no-measure ‘recipe’, adjust amounts based on how many treats you want. Put a blob of peanut butter (sun and almond are equally delicious) in a bowl. Drizzle or cover with honey to taste. Microwave until smooth and runny. Add in quick oats until stiff. Drop by spoonfulls on a plate. A small cookie scoop works great! Leave them on the table and tell the kids you made them a treat. It tastes delicious and is much healthier than many other sweet snacks. If you really want to be nice, add a few chocolate chips to the melted nut butter or use Nutella instead of peanut butter. 😉 As for eating it hot, I’m a traditionalist. A pat of butter, some brown sugar, raisins or cranberries is perfect for me.
my favorite way to eat quaker oatmeal is with brown sugar cinnimon and walnuts
I recently started making oatmeal muffins for breakfast/ snacks. Here’s the recipe I found:
1 cup milk
1 cup quick cooking oats
1 egg
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
*sometimes I add frozen blueberries
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Grease muffin cups or line with paper muffin liners.
In a small bowl, combine milk and oats; let soak for 15 minutes.
In a separate bowl, beat together egg and oil; stir in oatmeal mixture. In a third bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Stir flour mixture into wet ingredients, just until combined. Spoon batter into prepared muffin cups until cups are 2/3 full.
Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean
Brown sugar and cinnamon flavor (lower sugar, of course 🙂 ….. with added raisins…
I love it with brown sugar and a little bit of butter…just the way my mom made it for me when i was little (not really heart healthy…but that is why i need to win 🙂 )
i like quaker on facebook 🙂
My favorite way is by making pumpkin banana baked oatmeal!
I love to eat Quaker Oatmeal with frozen blueberries and a drizzle of some honey or I throw some quick cooking oats into my food processor with some yogurt and some frozen strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, or basically any frozen fruit I have and make a smoothie. So good.
I’ve never had it with peanut butter, I MUST try this! I always have it with cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on top.
