Do you have a room in your house that could use a fresh new look? If you despise the prep or clean-up parts of a painting project, then you are going to love this giveaway!
Late last year, we got rid of the old carpet in our family room and replaced it with laminate wood flooring – which I LOVE!
While all the furniture was out of the room, I decided it was the perfect time to get rid of the old dark color on the walls!
I decided to brighten up this room, get rid of the country decor and paint the walls a very light gray with white trim. My curtains are yellow with brown and gray – they are the inspiration for my new space.
The folks at Procter & Gamble have a few products to make the dreaded tasks of painting prep and clean up a breeze!
I have always been a big fan of the Swiffer Sweepers. Not only are they great on furniture and floors, did you know they are wonderful for getting cobwebs off the corners of your walls and dust off the hard-to-reach places as well? The head of the Sweeper swivels a full 360 degrees, making it easy to move around corners and the pole allows for easy floor to ceiling reach, and baseboards, windows, doorways, too.
Since I choose to just paint our existing stained baseboards white, I needed to make sure they were good and clean. That’s where Mr. Clean Magic Erasers came in! Did you know you can now get them in select a size? Those things are genius I tell you! I’m amazed at what all you can clean with the Magic Erasers – they are unstoppable.

So, here is where I am now. After the new floors and new paint……..you know what came next right? New furniture!! You may not know this about me, but when it comes to making large purchases………I’m TERRIBLE! I can’t make a decision, so it usually ends up taking me months, or never, which is why you don’t see me updating our house too much. I’m a terrible decision maker!
But sometimes when you see IT…….you just know it! I saw this Martha Stewart Saybridge Sofa from Macy’s a few weeks ago, then it went on sale President’s Day weekend! and knew I found my true love! It has the style and elegance I wanted, with the size my 6’4″ husband wanted.
So the sofa and love seat will be delivered soon. I actually received an email while I was writing this post that they are ready to schedule delivery!! {SQUEAL}
So next up, I’ll be looking for a new rug, new tables, get rid of the roll-top oak desk (that was from my bedroom when I was growing up!) and possibly a new TV stand. And fun stuff for the walls! I want to keep the window treatments, I purchased them last year, and love them.
How about you? Can you decorate with your eyes closed, or are you like me and take forever to make every single decision? At least I know it’s clean!

Picking the color ^_^
The biggest rush is clearing out the room to get started. The end result is just bliss!
my favorite part of a new painting job is picking out the color! i love being able to pick out any color I want!
My favorite part is the actual painting. I don’t like the prep work, but I love actually painting the walls.
I like removing the tape when the job is done. And seeing the fresh paint crisp and new against the wood trim.
What is not to love! The couch is gorgeous as well as the flooring. Nothing better than cleaning with a swifter. My ids love to clean with it.
I love to paint. I like everything except the clean up, We’re buying a house and will probably be doing a little painting. I’m looking forward to it.
I love picking out colors! My 15-year-old daughter and I just painter her bed and dresser a dark teal, and her nightstand lime green. Next is the bookshelf, either lime green with teal shelves, or we’re adding in some gray. thanks for the giveaway! anabidia at yahoo dot com
I love to pick the colors!
Oh I love the painting itself! So fun and exciting seeing the change!
Selecting the color and the finished job!
I am one messy painter! It will be in my hair, on my glasses, on my shoes! So my husband bans me from painting and he does a FINE job! That is my favorite part. He makes it look easy!
My favorite is rolling on the first big strokes and then jump to peeling off the blue tape!
I like picking the colors!
I haven’t had the experience of painting a room yet since we rent our place but I imagine the best part would be the planning stage – what color, accents, furniture…
My favorite is when the painting is done!!! I enjoy the fresh look and smell.
I love when it’s all done and I can stare and the finished result! Even the smell is wonderful!
Favorite part of painting: pulling off the tape and picking up the newspapers at the end, and suddenly the room looks like it’s supposed to look — transformed!
Picking out a new color is my favorite part of the painting process and my least favorite part is cutting in around the trim. I’m short and not the most graceful, I won’t lie, so cutting in around the ceiling NOT something I’m too confident doing and the rest is just not fun…
My favorite part is ripping off the tape at the end and seeing the finished project.
my favorite part? Ooh… when the room is all empty… and it’s CLEAN… and then this new color goes up and it holds all this…. promise…
I’m working on my studio right now… we’ve painted HALF lol… but my hubbs has to do the painting around his work schedule and also around the patching and fixing of 100 year old plaster and latt walls first…so it’s slow going. But on my side?
Ooh the promise…. *sigh
Well, hum … I mostly like when it’s finished but I do like that ‘ah’ moment when you have done a wall and the paint starts t dry and you see how it’s going to be.
My hubby and I never agree on a tone. My favorite part of painting is going to Home Depot together and finding the happy medium tone to the color we somehow agreed to. I have to admit, the hubby is way… better at color than I am, usually I just trust, close my eyes, and trust. The worst that can happen is we have to do it all over again. Good thing my hubby is a good sport and supports painting all over again if the color isn’t just what we wanted.
It’s going to sound a bit crazy but I’d have to say the finished part! The entire process stresses me out! And I’m not good at deciding what colors I like. 😉
My favorite part is picking the new color to paint. . .I need to like the color as well as the name or I won’t buy it! Doing so helps evoke a feeling about how I want the room decorated.
Favorite part = picking a new color! It’s the ultimate way to transform a room and the least expensive thing you can do overall to make a big change.
I love picking out the color of paint. Hubby does all of the hard work….. doesn’t like my painting technique! Love your couch!
My favorite part is picking a color. My least favorite part is the prep work…cleaning, sparkling, taping. It takes me forever to get started, because I hate it so much.
I like the part when it’s finished!
Definately picking out all those paint swatches and when it’s all finished and you stand back and look at your new room!
I love making sure it’s done right with no spaces in the paint. I love to paint walls with a paint pad instead of a roller.
I don’t like to do the trim, I will do the center and I prefer to leave the painting to my husband.
I shared this giveaway on Facebook
Love to paint!
I like when the first roller full of paint hits the wall. It inspire me to keep painting!
My favorite part of a painting project is putting the color on the walls!
I think my favorite part of painting a room is either the therapeutic application of paint or the rearranging of furniture when it’s all done; can’t decide which one I like more.
I love cutting the most!
I like the painting picking out the color and the end result all clean and uplifing
I like the smell of a freshly painted room. Don’t much like doing the work itself though!
My favorite part of the project is actually prep work – it is always so good to know the hard work in advance pays off!
picking out the color.
As far as my part in any type of painting goes, I do the color selection and arranging the room after painting is done.
i only like when its over
We just completed our powder room around 11PM last night. It looks beautiful, but it was a stressful.
It is grey, white and yellow. Kind of a country look. I really enjoyed the decorating. My husband is the painter since he does a wonderful job.
There are two things I don’t mind doing because it brings back childhood memories of how my mother would teach us and get us involved in her re-decorating painting projects.
One, I don’t get to do too often because wood windows are rare in my life now. The other job was the baseboards. Mom would give each of us kiddos a ‘kit’ with masking tape (no blue tape in the 60’s!), paint can, brush and a protective razor (for clean-ups on the window panes).
Cheryl, I wanted to wish you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I hope that you had a wonderful day yesterday!! (I just read Amanda’s blog!) Love your new sofa and can’t wait to see your finished room! My favorite part of painting??? That would probably be watching my husband do it…lol! I love remodeling, but painting…not so much!
i like picking out colors for sure not so much the actually painting process lol
Definitely picking the color! Can’t wait to paint this summer!
I love painting and right now that is a good thing. We just got a house and I am painting all of the rooms all by myself. I’m not sure what my favorite part of it all is. Picking the color is great right now because the house is starting to feel like ours now. Although my body hates me afterward, for some reason it just feels relaxing while I’m painting and I love feeling like I’ve accomplished something when I’m done. Paint just makes a huge difference.
