Do you have a room in your house that could use a fresh new look? If you despise the prep or clean-up parts of a painting project, then you are going to love this giveaway!
Late last year, we got rid of the old carpet in our family room and replaced it with laminate wood flooring – which I LOVE!
While all the furniture was out of the room, I decided it was the perfect time to get rid of the old dark color on the walls!
I decided to brighten up this room, get rid of the country decor and paint the walls a very light gray with white trim. My curtains are yellow with brown and gray – they are the inspiration for my new space.
The folks at Procter & Gamble have a few products to make the dreaded tasks of painting prep and clean up a breeze!
I have always been a big fan of the Swiffer Sweepers. Not only are they great on furniture and floors, did you know they are wonderful for getting cobwebs off the corners of your walls and dust off the hard-to-reach places as well? The head of the Sweeper swivels a full 360 degrees, making it easy to move around corners and the pole allows for easy floor to ceiling reach, and baseboards, windows, doorways, too.
Since I choose to just paint our existing stained baseboards white, I needed to make sure they were good and clean. That’s where Mr. Clean Magic Erasers came in! Did you know you can now get them in select a size? Those things are genius I tell you! I’m amazed at what all you can clean with the Magic Erasers – they are unstoppable.

So, here is where I am now. After the new floors and new paint……..you know what came next right? New furniture!! You may not know this about me, but when it comes to making large purchases………I’m TERRIBLE! I can’t make a decision, so it usually ends up taking me months, or never, which is why you don’t see me updating our house too much. I’m a terrible decision maker!
But sometimes when you see IT…….you just know it! I saw this Martha Stewart Saybridge Sofa from Macy’s a few weeks ago, then it went on sale President’s Day weekend! and knew I found my true love! It has the style and elegance I wanted, with the size my 6’4″ husband wanted.
So the sofa and love seat will be delivered soon. I actually received an email while I was writing this post that they are ready to schedule delivery!! {SQUEAL}
So next up, I’ll be looking for a new rug, new tables, get rid of the roll-top oak desk (that was from my bedroom when I was growing up!) and possibly a new TV stand. And fun stuff for the walls! I want to keep the window treatments, I purchased them last year, and love them.
How about you? Can you decorate with your eyes closed, or are you like me and take forever to make every single decision? At least I know it’s clean!
THIS GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED. Congrats to Leslie Moore.

My favorite part of the process is when you can stand back and enjoy the finished project! P.S. Love the new sofa!
I love picking the color and painting the baseboards
I would have to say picking out the paint is my favorite part of any project. I just can’t stand any part of my house being disrupted in the process of everything being taken out as indicated in your picture{ I am sure you agree!} I love your new ideas and inspiration and the sofa! Have fun! Thanks for the chance at the giveaway!
The part of painting i like is putting on the second or third coat and really seeing the new fresh color on the wall. So clean and inspiring to decorate – which is really my favorite part of all.
I love cutting in. I find it therapudic in a way.
I love picking out the colors and then putting the room together after it’s painted. Everything looks so nice, clean. I want to stay in it to relish the changes!
Picking out the color is the best part of painting, and also the end result.
My favorite part of painting is picking out the colors then priming wall. It’s so exciting to prepare for such a change to my space!
I love having a reason to take everything out of the room and clean, clean and clean! No excuses at that point. 🙂
I enjoy the whole process, from deciding on the paint color, the accent wall color, the trimming and the painting of the room, it is a peaceful project and once the whole project is done and you look back at what you have done that is the greatest reward of all.
I like picking out colors, but I love watching the color transform the room as you paint. It always looks so refreshed!
I like the rolling.
I have to say that I enjoy picking out the color, and painting….but I really don’t like taping everything off before starting to paint!! Thanks for offering this! I am hoping this will be my first ‘online’ win!
What I like the most…probably picking out the colors because after that it’s just so much work! 😉
I LOVE LOVE LOVE to paint! Seriously though, my husband and I have been in our home for less than 4 years. When we moved in, I re-painted all the walls (including the bathroom, which had some wonderful (ha!) floor to ceiling wallpaper {yikes}) It was a print of bugs. Worms. Bees. The border atop was of bluebirds. My grandma loved it.
Since, I have painted the bedroom 3 times, the kitchen twice and even a walk-in closet twice.
My FAVORITE part, is the sense of accomplishment I get when finished. I like to paint half a wall, step back and admire, paint the other half, set back and admire, and so on until the project is completed. Painting clears my mind! THANK YOU for this giveaway! I keep a lookout for your inspiration on Pinterest 🙂
My favorite (but also the hardest) is picking out a color! I love buying those sample color pots and painting squares of it all over the walls to see what color I like the best! sometimes when I am waffling over colors that are almost identical, I step back and think to myself “will I really notice the 1 shade difference when it is all said and done?” helps to bring perspective!
I must feel like I am pretty spoilt…I have never painted! My husband does it all and is such a perfectionist about it that he doesn’t want my help! The tip for the baseboard washing was great. I had not thought to use the Magic Erasers.
The only part of painting I love is watching my sister do it. 🙂 She is the painter..and does most of mine. We really need to do some more now also. My 2 story foyer needs painting bad…but will need to hire someone with scaffolding to come in to do it. Thanks for chance to win. Winning would get me motivated to get busy painting.
What a wonderful Spring makeover project Cheryl. The new sofa is going to look beautiful in the room and go so well with the new paint colour.
I have two favorite parts of painting — first, picking out the paint color and putting the room back together after the painting is complete. The room always looks so clean and fresh after the new paint color goes on the walls.
Your post is so inspiring. I also love picking out paint colors but I love rolling paint on the walls. It’s so satisfying to watch the old color gone and the new color changing the feel of the room.
I love decorating, so picking out the color of paint and coordinating the rest
of the room, is my favorite part of redoing a room! I would love to win this prize
for our oldest son who just bought his first home. He is repainting the whole
inside of his home…
Many thanks, Cindi
What is my favorite part of painting … when the job is finished!! It takes me forever to decide on a color, and then to coordinate all the calendars so family members can help out. It’s a lot of work, but we also have fun doing things like this as a family project.
As most people I really dislike the prepping for painting. What I like and am best at is cutting in edges for sharp clean lines. My daughter’s room has 1 wall that is a shade darker then the other walls and the edges are super straight. She also has a small entry-like area that the change of color from the white ceiling to her wall color had to be “just so”. My hubby isn’t too happy with all of the “honey-do” projects I have in mind. 😉
Thinking of the grand finale! And…..picking colors.
I love cutting the best!
I Go to Home Depot all the time. They are so helpful in the paint department. I love to pick out colors on those little paint chips! I think I like the “rolling” the best…makes a huge difference right away…and Lso thinking about how the room will look when done. LOVE the Behr ultra paint there! Works great
I love picking out the colors!
I really enjoy painting the main wall with the roller, you get so much done and feel accomplished. I dread picking out colors b/c there are so many and I too am a bad decision maker of big items like paint.
I like seeing the fresh clean walls when it is all complete.!
Believe it or not, I love to tape off the baseboards and ceiling! I know, sounds crazy. I guess it just signals the beginning of a good change to me.
I am so looking forward to painting our family room. We have been living with the “builder’s beige” now for 8 years and it’s really time for a change. I have a fantastic soft gray picked out at Home Depot.
My favorite part if putting everything back and enjoying the completed paint job.
For me? It’s the picking out of the paint…I always have all these ideas but it takes me FOREVER to actualkly get them done. i.e. hubs and I finally picked and boughtthe colors for our bedroom and our guest bathroom, about 2 months ago…it’s still hasn’t been done……anyone know how long paint is good for if never opened?! LOL! Hoping to at least start CLEANING the baseboards and corners to prepare for painting with the winnings of this getaway!! 🙂
I love hanging my art back up on fresh clean walls!
My favorite part of the job is finishing! Ha! Seriously it is the fresh walls free of kids hand prints. You never know how dirty those walls are until you start painting. I just picked out colors at Home Depot today. This would be great!
The best part of painting is standing back after everything is in place and hang and admiring the great way it now looks. I have a bathroom that I would love to tackle with this prize.
i like doing the detail painting on the base boards…and the best part about painting is getting up the next morning and seeing the paint job in daylight
My favorite part is putting the room back together and it being clean and organized.
I love when all of the prep work is done and I get to start actually putting the paint up. You get to start seeing the transformation.
Can I be honest and say that there is no part of painting that I enjoy?! Obviously the finished room is pure enjoyment though!
When it’s DONE!!!
I love picking out the colors! Love picking out great accent color.
I love picking out the paint colors. It is always so fun to see the new paints and there is so much available.
I love details, so painting the trim is my favorite, but I really enjoy all the actual painting process – it feels so creative. The prep and clean-up, not so much. 🙂
My favorite part is peeling off the blue tape when it’s all over!
I love picking out the colors! Painting is not my favorite thing, but I usually do the trim. Thanks!
Picking out the colors of course. 🙂
I love it when it is done. We have such a hard time picking out color, furniture, carpet, etc we haven’t repainted in about 10 years (and one room never in 20+ years). I see a change coming.
The part I like most about painting is that my husband wants to do it all by himself. Yayy!
My favorite part is picking out the color. We just re-painted our livingroom and it’s made such a difference.
