Do you have a room in your house that could use a fresh new look? If you despise the prep or clean-up parts of a painting project, then you are going to love this giveaway!
Late last year, we got rid of the old carpet in our family room and replaced it with laminate wood flooring – which I LOVE!
While all the furniture was out of the room, I decided it was the perfect time to get rid of the old dark color on the walls!
I decided to brighten up this room, get rid of the country decor and paint the walls a very light gray with white trim. My curtains are yellow with brown and gray – they are the inspiration for my new space.
The folks at Procter & Gamble have a few products to make the dreaded tasks of painting prep and clean up a breeze!
I have always been a big fan of the Swiffer Sweepers. Not only are they great on furniture and floors, did you know they are wonderful for getting cobwebs off the corners of your walls and dust off the hard-to-reach places as well? The head of the Sweeper swivels a full 360 degrees, making it easy to move around corners and the pole allows for easy floor to ceiling reach, and baseboards, windows, doorways, too.
Since I choose to just paint our existing stained baseboards white, I needed to make sure they were good and clean. That’s where Mr. Clean Magic Erasers came in! Did you know you can now get them in select a size? Those things are genius I tell you! I’m amazed at what all you can clean with the Magic Erasers – they are unstoppable.

So, here is where I am now. After the new floors and new paint……..you know what came next right? New furniture!! You may not know this about me, but when it comes to making large purchases………I’m TERRIBLE! I can’t make a decision, so it usually ends up taking me months, or never, which is why you don’t see me updating our house too much. I’m a terrible decision maker!
But sometimes when you see IT…….you just know it! I saw this Martha Stewart Saybridge Sofa from Macy’s a few weeks ago, then it went on sale President’s Day weekend! and knew I found my true love! It has the style and elegance I wanted, with the size my 6’4″ husband wanted.
So the sofa and love seat will be delivered soon. I actually received an email while I was writing this post that they are ready to schedule delivery!! {SQUEAL}
So next up, I’ll be looking for a new rug, new tables, get rid of the roll-top oak desk (that was from my bedroom when I was growing up!) and possibly a new TV stand. And fun stuff for the walls! I want to keep the window treatments, I purchased them last year, and love them.
How about you? Can you decorate with your eyes closed, or are you like me and take forever to make every single decision? At least I know it’s clean!

Hate the process of just cleaning out the room just to get ready for paint. Of course, then you have to put it all back together again.
I really do not like the prep work before painting. Moving furniture, taping etc….. But when I see the finished project it makes it all worth it!!! A little paint can sure make a HUGE difference.
I really dislike cutting in!!!!! I make my husband do it.. 🙂
Picking out the color is always a stressful time. I always find when I actually get the choice of color picked out, I try to talk myself out of it 🙂
The thing that I despise most about painting is the clean-up. Cleaning the brushes, cleaning up little specks of paint that may have ended up where they shouldn’t be, etc. New paint does help make a room look totally different, though, and it can be so much fun to change things up!
for me it’s moving furniture out of the way, because every time I do alone ..
I love to paint but dread the prep work—-tapeing, filling holes sanding etc….shared on facebook
The worst part is ALL of the prep work.. However I almost always enjoy the rewards that come from them..
I dread the taping process! And cutting in….I made my husband do that when we repainted!
It took me 2 years to buy a couch once. The only big purchases that take me one day are the essentials like washer / dryer or fridge etc that you have to have. Everything else…I search forever!
I don’t care for the preparation that is done before painting. Washing walls(yes,I do that),taping, removing light fixtures and outlet covers. We lost 7 ceilings to a roofer who did not secure the tarps over our roof during a huge rain storm and are still trying to recover from that
I hate trying to pick out the color. I cannot decide which color to choose, thinking if I choose one I will then wish I had chosen the other color I liked.
The worst part about painting is cleaning up afterwards. I hate cleaning the pans and brushes!
I hate the prep work; moving furniture and taping.
I hate the prep work! Taping, laying down drop cloths, assembling all the supplies takes FOREVER!
I hate trying to get my lines around the ceiling and baseboard just right. I Like to see progress and it can be SO time consuming…plus with 3 furry friends running around I’m always worried about hair getting into the paint while it dries!
We are moving tomorrow and my Husband is DREADING painting. I think the whole process is a beat down, but cutting in around the ceiling and baseboards is probably the worst part. I’m loving yellow & gray right now too!
Can I say “the clean up”?! I hate that part.
The taping and prep work is the worst part! I actually love painting!
I HATE all the prep work, then again I hate all the clean up too!
I hate the process of putting up the tape.
The prep work is the worst! It wouldn’t be so bad if I wasn’t so OCD about it. But I want it done right the first time. Maybe that’s why no one will help… 🙂
I haven’t painted anything yet but seems like I’ll enjoy it…:)
I’d say getting ready – moving stuff, taping off, finding motivation…….I have things I’ve planned ot paint for yrs & can’t seem to get past start.
I despise taping off. Luckily, my hand is steady enough that in most situations I don’t tape.
I despise cleaning before and after!
I’ve been living in an apartment, so I can’t WAIT until we move into our new house soon and I can put some paint on the walls. Still debating on a color though…
Since we are going through a paint project right now, I hate sanding the most. Our bathroom had partially textured walls from the previous owners, so my husband had to sand the walls to get a flat surface. The dust was awful!
I hate the prep work!
The prepping part is the worst, it takes so much time because it has to be perfect, otherwise you’ll ruin the whole process. I like to pick out the color, it’s fun to compare and sample all the colors.
I like picking the paint and imagining all the color coordinating decorations to come.
Actually painting is my favorite! Not picking out color (indecisive) or prep work (impatient)! We are in the process of buying a new house so lots of painting is in my future!
I like finding the perfect color!
We definitely have a bedroom (or two) that could use some sprucing up. My favorite part is picking out the color. I leave the actual painting to the professional (aka my dad).
I like picking the color, it’s my favorite part of a painting project
Painting the trim is my favorite part of the job.
The only thing I like about painting is the finished product.
I’ve got to be honest . . . my favorite part of painting is standing back after it all done and the last paint brush is put away and admiring the fresh beauty of our work! Thanks for offering a great giveaway!
My favorite part is picking out the perfect color! 🙂
I love painting, from picking the colors, to cutting in and rolling! And especially the satisfaction of a good job well done! My hubby on the other hand not so much!
My favorite part is rolling the color on the walls. I like seeing the wall color transform.
I love when it is all done and everything is put back in its place. Everything looks clean and new.
I love picking out the colors!
Picking out the color can be hard sometimes. I enjoy the actual painting part!
I love rolling. Least favorite is doing the trim. But I’m always glad to get the whole job done. Thanks!
I have to admit my favorite part of any painting job is cleaning the paint brushes. Why? Because it means I am done!
I like the actual painting, in fact the first bit of paint that gets put on the wall is the ultimate best. You get to see it and there is that pop of color and its just a thrill to know your room will be different and exactly what you want it to be. Thats my favorite part!, Love your new livingroom and your couch is amazing!
I like it when it’s all done, haha! Thanks for the chance to win.
i like the end result!
i like picking out the colors and the start of painting….i hate the clean up!
