I’m Lovin’ It – French Fries

The fun has begun! I recently asked for your help to reinvent a classic – the french fry.
This past week my family and I have spent more time talking about french fries and eating french fries than ever before.
Russett or Sweet? we still can’t decide. It’s kind of like choosing a favorite child….you love them all the same.
It’s really been kind of fun. I usually don’t give it much thought, I pop some fries in the oven or in a skillet, sprinkle with some salt and toss them on the table. But after reading all of the AMAZING suggestions when I asked for your help, I no longer think of french fries the same way.
Our first night, we got out the madoline and cut up some russet potatoes for our first trial batch. Although they were really quite tasty, I think we can do MUCH better.
Batch number two, we decided to shake things up a bit, and we used sweet potatoes…..stay tuned.
So this brings me back to the same question, if you didn’t get a chance to leave a comment before, leave one on this post…..I’d love to hear your idea the best french fry! Have you tried Alexia All Natural French Fries? (hang tight, be cause I’ll be giving away some fries next week!)

Hi Cheryl! I’m super jealous of your time at the EVO Conference with SO many great gals. Hope you all have a BLAST!!!! Thanks so much for hosting us all here. And YES our family uses Alexia nearly every week. Great side to quickly throw in the oven so I can enjoy time outside while my hubby grills. And to answer your question… My idea of a fun french fry would be adding garlic and fresh herbs. Thanks again Cheryl!!

Hey girl!
It would be so hard to decide on which kind of fry I like the most! In the South they eat sweet potato or sweet potato fries with a steak. Let me tell you – it is the best combination -ever! But I love the regular fries with a burger.
Hope you’re having a great yi
Oops. Sorry. This is my first time to link & comment with my iPhone. Obviously I need practice. ;). Have a super time. Wish I could be at the Evoconf as well.

Oh funny, my latest post talks about some sweet potato fries I made. We actually love them because they were the perfect texture. I’m looking forward to seeing your recipe to compare it! 🙂
I love the Alexia Sweet Potato Fries. They are wonderfully crunchy…and addictive! I didn’t really like sweet potato fries until I tried these.
the fries look yummy!!! thanks!

I love fries and sweet potato fries are THE best! I just saw an interesting recipe on The Edible Perspective website for beer soaked fries. Really looking forward to trying these. My chef son and husband always rinse the potatoes and double fry them..once to cook the potato and then again in hotter oil to crisp them. Delish!!!
I love my madoline! Perfect for French Fries!
Hi Cheryl,
I linked up my Mixed Berry Jam! Thanks for hosting!
Cheryl,

You REALLY REALLY need to try fried carrots and turnips. SOOOOOOOOO Good. For the carrots i use either the mandoline set on the thinnest setting or if you don’t have one handy use a vegetable peeler. I put them in the hot hoil and fry till they are LIGHTLY golden. take out drain on paper towel and salt to taste. The turnips I cut in thin sticks and deep fry until golden brown. they have a really yummy almost nutty flavor.
I give my french fries a coat of flour just before I drop them in the deep fryer. it gives them an extra crunch!!!
