We are finally all moved in to our new house! I can’t wait to share it with you! My head is spinning with all the new projects that lie ahead of me!!
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that just three days after we moved, I headed to Austin, TX for the BlogHer Food Conference thanks to my sponsor, Whirlpool. So things have been a bit crazy, to say the least. But, I’m finally starting to find a routine again. Our new house is starting to feel like home!
So, this week’s I’m Lovin’ It post is simple……… it’s about LOVE.
Have you heard about the Cheerios controversy?
General Mills is in the center of social media firestorm over a Cheerios ad it posted to its YouTube channel. The ad, which features a mixed-race family, ignited a racist backlash, forcing the brand to disable comments on the video due to the nature of the responses.
No matter what your beliefs or political views are, everyone can be united over cake!
I agree that we need to be sure to teach our children LOVE, not hate.
In case you are wondering……….General Mills has responded with class and grace:
“We are a family brand and not all of the comments were family-friendly,” Camille Gibson, vice president of marketing for Cheerios told USA Today. “There are many kinds of families, and Cheerios celebrates them all.”
I’m Lovin’…….Cheerios, a brand who chooses not to see color and chooses to embrace love.

I completely missed all the hubbub about Cheerios and General Mills but I always admire a company that can take proactive steps to be better than those that just want to tear down. Thanks for hosting and I’m off to read Amanda’s post and check out her fabulous cake!

I loved that commercial. I cannot understand why people would have a problem with it! And that cake. I’m so behind on posts, so thanks for linking it…I’m off to read it now. Thanks for the party Cheryl! It was great to meet you last weekend!

Thanks so much for hosting Cheryl. I hadn’t heard about the controversy but I agree – everyone can be united through cake 😉 Have a wonderful weekend!
Well, then, that cake is just awesome for so many reasons!! Thanks bunches for hosting.
I loved Amanda’s post and her Cherrios cake. I was so appalled by the controversy when I first heard about it. You’re so right on the money… we need to teach our kids to love, not hate. Thanks for hosting another great party. Have a wonderful weekend!
Applauding Cheerios and their response to this ridiculous controversy. In this day and age it’s hard to believe that this kind of ignorance still exists. Thank you Cheryl (and Amanda!) for bringing this to everyone’s attention and for standing up for love, not hate.
Totally missed all the youtube drama. Love that cake, though! 🙂
I’m lovin’ Amanda’s post too Cheryl. Like I told her- it didn’t stand out to me that it was an interracial couple- all I saw was a family doing normal family things & that the little girl was adorable. Sad that we are still having this debate. Really thought we were past all this. Happy that you & Amanda are bringing more light to it.
I seriously loved Amanda’s post.
There you go again, with your incredibly unique recipes! Wishing you a great weekend!
I have no time for people who make an issue of the color of a person’s skin. The cruelty in this world is appalling.
Thanks so much for hosting the party! Didn’t hear about the controversy, but that cake sure looks good! 🙂
I will never understand all of the hate and anger in the world, it make no sense at all 🙁 Thanks so much for the party! Have a wonderful weekend 🙂
Love your inspiration this week, Cheryl! And congratulations on your new home! I linked up two recipes from my brand-new baby blog, bakingamoment.com : Strawberry Rhubarb Tarts and Peanut Butter Boston Cream PIe. I hope everybody likes them 🙂 Good luck with all your house projects and thanks for hosting the party!
Yes, we should all unite over cake. No sense in anger in this world. Thanks for the party!!

The world needs to focus on our similarities, not our differences! We all need more love, not hate.
