Wow, another holiday season is over. But, I have one more holiday gift to giveaway! See how you can enter to win a KitchenAid Pro HD 5 qt Stand Mixer at the end of this post! EDITED: GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED
I hope you were surrounded by the ones you love most! Our holiday seemed to just go on and on and on, and I was sad to see it end, as out of town family loaded up their car and headed back to Kentucky yesterday.
It always seems like SO much prep, and then BAM! it’s all over way too fast!
Right before Christmas the good people at Sam’s Club challenged several bloggers to create a holiday meal with an assigned budget. My budget was $60, and I decided to use it for a pre New Years Eve dinner with just the four of us.
I had been cooking, and baking all week, so I decided to let Sam’s Club do the cooking for me! I wanted an easy, yet delicious meal we could all enjoy.
Sam’s Club made it simple. By shopping their Artisan Fresh section, I was able to put a great tasting meal on the table with little stress for me! – and we even have left overs!
Budget Friendly Holiday Meal
I couldn’t have come much closer to my budget! My total was $59.21.
Here’s what I picked up:
// ]]>
Chicken and Bacon Bruschetta ($9.98)
Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo ($10.88)
Spring Mix for salad ($4.47)
Herb & Garlic Focaccia ($2.78)
Artisan Fresh Cheesecake Sampler ($14.98)
Wine ($12.98)
$56.07 + $3.14 (tax) = $59.21
This was a nice treat and holiday meal that wouldn’t break your back or budget, leaving more time for family and guests! You could stretch your dollar even further if you wanted to cook your own meal. Sam’s Club has taken all the work out of that for you too, with their Simply Delicious Meals site, full of recipes, meal plans, wine pairing and even shopping lists!

My favorite holiday dish would have to be Special K chewies.
My favorite New Years celebration is appetizers (hey, it’s a long night, I need to keep eating!), so I like the cocktail wienies wrapped in bacon and covered in brown sugar. TERRIBLY unhealthy, but oh so good!
My favorite dish to eat on New Years Eve is chocolate cake with a lot of champagne.

My favorite appetizer is the buffalo chicken dip. Everyone loves it!
Santa forgot me. 🙁 I’d LOVE this mixer! I could bake and mix SO much more easily! My fave NYE dish is anything that’s an appetizer. I make these sausage wonton cups that I love! They have a pound of sausage, ranch dressing, cheddar cheese, and garlic salt in crisped-up wonton cups! SO yummy. Thanks for the offer! 🙂

Now that you ask I don’t have a dish that I eat every year for New Years…gasp!
I liked Sams Club on FB!
I liked Tidymom on Facebook!
My favourite recipe for New Years is as follows:
A few good friends
A warm & welcoming atmosphere
A nice bottle of bubbly
Some yummy homemade nibbles – both salty and sweet…(which obviously wold have been an even more joyful cooking and baking session if I owned something as beautiful as the stunning kitchen aid mixer featured in this fabulous give-away!)
And a clock to countdown the end of the year !!
My christmas tree is still up, and as I keep being reminded – it’s not what you have under the tree that counts; it’s who you have around it – throw them into the mix too – and it can’t help but turn out right! The ingredients can differ slightly, but this is always a wonderful recipe for a very special start to the year – wishing you and all your readers a happy, healthy, cakey, biscuity and cupcakelicious 2012!
I always have Black Eye Peas and the rest of the meal varies!

A favorite of our family’s is homemade chili and cornbread!
Black eyed pea pizza
Being Gluten-Free does make it challenging. However, I really try to make things taste GOOD for those who are eating with me!! I have found this fabulous fun chicken dish called Parmesan Crusted Chicken that taste pretty close to Chick-Fil-A (one of my old fav’s, but can’t eat). So I am really lovin’ this finger type food and my family really loves it too! So it is definitely on my menu for New Year’s along with some Gluten-Free foods I will pick up at Sam’s (which by the way, they have many!). Having adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder) it really hinders my love for cooking, so winning this lovely long wanting Kitchen Aid Mixer would make my life soooo much easier! Thanks for doing this and many blessings this New Year to you and your family!
Our favorite New Year’s recipe is anything with cream cheese!
