Wow, another holiday season is over. But, I have one more holiday gift to giveaway! See how you can enter to win a KitchenAid Pro HD 5 qt Stand Mixer at the end of this post! EDITED: GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED
I hope you were surrounded by the ones you love most! Our holiday seemed to just go on and on and on, and I was sad to see it end, as out of town family loaded up their car and headed back to Kentucky yesterday.
It always seems like SO much prep, and then BAM! it’s all over way too fast!
Right before Christmas the good people at Sam’s Club challenged several bloggers to create a holiday meal with an assigned budget. My budget was $60, and I decided to use it for a pre New Years Eve dinner with just the four of us.
I had been cooking, and baking all week, so I decided to let Sam’s Club do the cooking for me! I wanted an easy, yet delicious meal we could all enjoy.
Sam’s Club made it simple. By shopping their Artisan Fresh section, I was able to put a great tasting meal on the table with little stress for me! – and we even have left overs!
Budget Friendly Holiday Meal
I couldn’t have come much closer to my budget! My total was $59.21.
Here’s what I picked up:

Chicken and Bacon Bruschetta ($9.98)
Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo ($10.88)
Spring Mix for salad ($4.47)
Herb & Garlic Focaccia ($2.78)
Artisan Fresh Cheesecake Sampler ($14.98)
Wine ($12.98)
$56.07 + $3.14 (tax) = $59.21
This was a nice treat and holiday meal that wouldn’t break your back or budget, leaving more time for family and guests! You could stretch your dollar even further if you wanted to cook your own meal. Sam’s Club has taken all the work out of that for you too, with their Simply Delicious Meals site, full of recipes, meal plans, wine pairing and even shopping lists!

My favorite NYE’s dish? Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever prepared a special meal for NYE! I guess I would say “one someone else has prepared!” LOL
My favorite food for new years eve is a giant m&m cookie and milk- but the milk is in a tall wine glass, its a family tradittion- that way even the kiddos feel welcome, and no one has to drink because they all have the awesome glass!
chips and dip is yummy too
oh and we ALWAYS have the best macaroni and cheese ever!!
Filet Mignon and a nice glass of wine
We like to munch on New Year’s Eve with some buffalo chicken dip and chips!

We always have bacon wrapped BBQ shrimp and lots of other munchie foods. This year, I am attempting chicken wings in the slow cooker. Everything tastes better in a slow cooker 🙂
Last year we made Pasta Carbonara… but that was a lot of work and a lot of clean up. This year we are doing prime rib.
I want it!
You know, it’s funny. I don’t associate specific foods with New Year’s…just the drinks! But if I had to choose an actual dish, I mostly associate finger foods with New Year’s. I’d have to go with bruschetta dip with thin french loaf slices. Super easy and sooooo yum! Thanks to TidyMom and Sam’s for the giveaway!

Stuffed capons!
My favorite New Years Eve dish is steak! Although it doesn’t have to be New Years for that 🙂 Thanks for doing this give away!

We have spent a quiet NYE with just the three of us since my daughter was born 16 years ago. I always have a crockpot going with sauerkraut, kolbassi, and hotdogs. With the leftover sauerkraut and kolbassi, I add it to a Roast Pork that I make on NY Day. Our tradition is you have to have a taste of pork and sauerkraut on NY day for good luck! And my Mum ALWAYS said you HAVE to have homemade applesauce when you have pork! I also picked up a very easy recipe for guacamole dip I’m making for NYE.
At midnight, we still go out and bang on some pots, and put off poppers, and noisemakers!
Isn’t it funny how you never want to stray from tradition?
We make a bunch of appetizers. The list changes every year.
I love to do appetizers for New Years with my fav probably being stuffed mushrooms.
We love Baked Brie with Caramelized Onions and toasted French Bread.
Appetizers….lots of different ones!
Cornbread must be involved 🙂
Steak & Lobster
My Mom’s honey ham!
My favorite New Year’s Eve dinner is duck confit with sides of black eyed peas and collard greens.
My favorite New Years Eve dish is flatbread and sliders!
We do finger foods at my Father in Laws house. He picks up all the wonderful snacks from Sams. I like cheesesticks 🙂
We have always made a meal of H’orderves on New Years’ Eve. I make my Bacon wrapped Chicken Bites with Cranberry Mustard Sauce, Vidalia Onion relish Spread, Chipped Beef & Onion Spread, Now we have added Buffalo Chicken Dip all served with a variety of crackers. I could never get away without Cheese, Pepperoni, Summer Sausage a huge variety of crackers to satisfy everyone’s favorites!
