Wow, another holiday season is over. But, I have one more holiday gift to giveaway! See how you can enter to win a KitchenAid Pro HD 5 qt Stand Mixer at the end of this post! EDITED: GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED
I hope you were surrounded by the ones you love most! Our holiday seemed to just go on and on and on, and I was sad to see it end, as out of town family loaded up their car and headed back to Kentucky yesterday.
It always seems like SO much prep, and then BAM! it’s all over way too fast!
Right before Christmas the good people at Sam’s Club challenged several bloggers to create a holiday meal with an assigned budget. My budget was $60, and I decided to use it for a pre New Years Eve dinner with just the four of us.
I had been cooking, and baking all week, so I decided to let Sam’s Club do the cooking for me! I wanted an easy, yet delicious meal we could all enjoy.
Sam’s Club made it simple. By shopping their Artisan Fresh section, I was able to put a great tasting meal on the table with little stress for me! – and we even have left overs!
Budget Friendly Holiday Meal
I couldn’t have come much closer to my budget! My total was $59.21.
Here’s what I picked up:

Chicken and Bacon Bruschetta ($9.98)
Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo ($10.88)
Spring Mix for salad ($4.47)
Herb & Garlic Focaccia ($2.78)
Artisan Fresh Cheesecake Sampler ($14.98)
Wine ($12.98)
$56.07 + $3.14 (tax) = $59.21
This was a nice treat and holiday meal that wouldn’t break your back or budget, leaving more time for family and guests! You could stretch your dollar even further if you wanted to cook your own meal. Sam’s Club has taken all the work out of that for you too, with their Simply Delicious Meals site, full of recipes, meal plans, wine pairing and even shopping lists!

I don’t know if I have a favorite dish for New Years Eve. I remember eating collard greens and pinto beans with my grandparents when we were with them for New Year’s Eve, we really did not have any traditional meals at my house though.
Always love your blog. Your budget friendly meal for New Year’s Eve sounds great. Always love the idea of less prep time and more time to spend with friends!
This New Year’s Eve our little gang is doing homemade personal pizzas. Everyone is bringing a favorite topping or two and we’ll each be creating our own perfect pizza. Yum!

We always make a big pot of cheesy queso dip and enjoy with family and friends before the fireworks show!!!
I am a FB liker of both!!!
One of our fav NYE dinners is Cheese Fondue with french bread, apples and pears for dipping. Simple to make, yet it is not something we eat often, so it feels like a treat.
Love hog jawl and pinto beans of course!
I love making stuffed mushrooms for our friends that come over for New years. They are so easy to make and great to share!
I am already a TidyMom fan on FB
hummm….dont really do it big for new years. usually in bed by 10. but this year thinking a special dinner and maybe some boardgames with the kids sounds good. so maybe a pot roast and taters.
Favorite NYE dinner is lobster 🙂
Not totally budget friendly, but great!
Probably nachos! (homemade of course)
My favorite NYE dish would have to be fresh cold antipasto salad. I can munch on that all day without a problem. Thanks for the opportunity!
I make up a large pot of Hoppin’ John and a big pot of collard greens. You eat the Hoppin’ John for good luck and the greens to always make sure you have money in your pocket. : ) Also use the canned biscuits to make little pizzas and a pumpkin bundt cake. My family loves pumpkin!
It’s the easiest thing in the world, but I LOVE 7-layer dip for New Year’s Eve. It’s simple and tasty — and you can really add as many layers as you want (mine typically end up being something like 9 or 10 layers when all is said and done). I consider it a meal! So does my family 🙂

My fave for New Year’s is Pecan Pie.

I love snack foods like cheese and crackers, chips and dip, and cookies on New Years!
Best thing for New Year’s Eve always involves shrimp – usually cold.

Yum! I like appetizers on New Year’s Eve … 🙂
My favorite New Years dish is Hoppin John. Even though I normally do not like black eyed peas, I do eat them in this delicious food.
We have two favorites: baby back ribs or Chinese Hot Pot.
We always make chocolate covered strawberries for New Years eve with little tiny tuxedos on them. Fun and cute! Thanks for posting this fabulous give-away!
I love making some creamy turkey and wild rice soup for New Year’s…it’s a great way to use that leftover turkey that’s still hanging around.
We usually make meat and rice stuffed cabbage leaves, roasted turkey or chicken, lamb haggis, and salade de boeuf, some roasted fish, and lots of sweets and a glorious cake. The best part of this is the second day, eating the leftovers in the morning in pijamas… the best meal ever!

The dish we have every New Years is a traditional family dish called Haluptkis which is basically just cabbage rolls and kilbasa. It’s supposed to bring good luck in the coming year, I think it started because it’s so cheap to make, the good luck was it didn’t take much money to eat a great meal.
