Wow, another holiday season is over. But, I have one more holiday gift to giveaway! See how you can enter to win a KitchenAid Pro HD 5 qt Stand Mixer at the end of this post! EDITED: GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED
I hope you were surrounded by the ones you love most! Our holiday seemed to just go on and on and on, and I was sad to see it end, as out of town family loaded up their car and headed back to Kentucky yesterday.
It always seems like SO much prep, and then BAM! it’s all over way too fast!
Right before Christmas the good people at Sam’s Club challenged several bloggers to create a holiday meal with an assigned budget. My budget was $60, and I decided to use it for a pre New Years Eve dinner with just the four of us.
I had been cooking, and baking all week, so I decided to let Sam’s Club do the cooking for me! I wanted an easy, yet delicious meal we could all enjoy.
Sam’s Club made it simple. By shopping their Artisan Fresh section, I was able to put a great tasting meal on the table with little stress for me! – and we even have left overs!
Budget Friendly Holiday Meal
I couldn’t have come much closer to my budget! My total was $59.21.
Here’s what I picked up:

Chicken and Bacon Bruschetta ($9.98)
Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo ($10.88)
Spring Mix for salad ($4.47)
Herb & Garlic Focaccia ($2.78)
Artisan Fresh Cheesecake Sampler ($14.98)
Wine ($12.98)
$56.07 + $3.14 (tax) = $59.21
This was a nice treat and holiday meal that wouldn’t break your back or budget, leaving more time for family and guests! You could stretch your dollar even further if you wanted to cook your own meal. Sam’s Club has taken all the work out of that for you too, with their Simply Delicious Meals site, full of recipes, meal plans, wine pairing and even shopping lists!

I tweeted about the giveaway…thanks.
No favorite really since we don’t have much of a New Year’s eve tradition, but this year we’ll be having fajitas.
Our favorite New Years Eve food is shrimp scampi over rice. Later we also like chips and a buffalo chicken dip
Like to make Lamb Biryani. One pot lots of flavors.
cheese dip
The one thing I really look forward to on New Years Eve is a nice, bubbly glass of champagne. We usually end up eating simple, easy to make foods though – mostly appetizers and desserts.
This New Years Eve, I am helping my parents hold a family wedding reception for my sister who had a destination wedding two weeks ago. I’ll be making all the desserts: Rocky Road Candy, Double Chocolate Andes Mint Cookies, Snickerdoodles, and Chocolate Dipped Rice Krispie Treats (all my favorites!).
appetizer buffet 🙂
My most favorite dish is my mom’s cheese dip…so calorie-ridden we only have it once a year!

There isn’t any specific food my family makes on New Years Eve but last year my dad made Arroz con Gandules (Puerto Rican rice) on New Years that was awesome. I loved it.
We always have soups, especially oyster stew and taco soup!

I love pasta and champagne
Hoppin’ John has become my favorite New Year’s dish!
I cannot exactly remember how many years, but it’s been quite a few that the staple at our house is sauerkraut and ribs. Heard years ago that it was for good luck so we either have it New Year’s Eve really late or sometime on New Year’s Day. Love all your hints.
Thanks.
Well I’m not much of a cook, but always incharge of deserts for new years 🙂
So my favorite cake to make is a margarita cake with a margarita buttercream frosting and limon zest on top 🙂 mmmmm it is so good.
Oh forgot to add that I can’t have sauerkraut without mashed potatoes as well. Yum…
No matter who wins your give away…best of luck to all and in the New Year and Happy 2012 to all!!
