Wow, another holiday season is over. But, I have one more holiday gift to giveaway! See how you can enter to win a KitchenAid Pro HD 5 qt Stand Mixer at the end of this post! EDITED: GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED
I hope you were surrounded by the ones you love most! Our holiday seemed to just go on and on and on, and I was sad to see it end, as out of town family loaded up their car and headed back to Kentucky yesterday.
It always seems like SO much prep, and then BAM! it’s all over way too fast!
Right before Christmas the good people at Sam’s Club challenged several bloggers to create a holiday meal with an assigned budget. My budget was $60, and I decided to use it for a pre New Years Eve dinner with just the four of us.
I had been cooking, and baking all week, so I decided to let Sam’s Club do the cooking for me! I wanted an easy, yet delicious meal we could all enjoy.
Sam’s Club made it simple. By shopping their Artisan Fresh section, I was able to put a great tasting meal on the table with little stress for me! – and we even have left overs!
Budget Friendly Holiday Meal
I couldn’t have come much closer to my budget! My total was $59.21.
Here’s what I picked up:
// ]]>
Chicken and Bacon Bruschetta ($9.98)
Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo ($10.88)
Spring Mix for salad ($4.47)
Herb & Garlic Focaccia ($2.78)
Artisan Fresh Cheesecake Sampler ($14.98)
Wine ($12.98)
$56.07 + $3.14 (tax) = $59.21
This was a nice treat and holiday meal that wouldn’t break your back or budget, leaving more time for family and guests! You could stretch your dollar even further if you wanted to cook your own meal. Sam’s Club has taken all the work out of that for you too, with their Simply Delicious Meals site, full of recipes, meal plans, wine pairing and even shopping lists!

My favorite dish on New Year’s Eve is…well, it’s actually two. We love to have smoked salmon (my brother smokes the fish himself) and a plate of tortilla pinwheels and salsa dip. And…everyone brings something delicious to add to the buffet table!

Hi Cheryl!
I love to make Pozole on New Year’s Eve. It is a Mexican Pork stew/soup with pork, hominy and delicious spices! Add the accompaniments of shredded cabbage, sliced radishes, onions and some oregano over your bowl of Pozole and eat with tostadas you will be happy and full!
Feliz Año Nuevo!
Love, love, love your blog! Our favorite New Years Eve meal would be some comfort food…mac & cheese, ham and yummy veggie casserole. Happy New Years to all! Peace, joy and good health!

Our favorite New Years Eve dinner is pizza and a chip dip that I make with cream cheese/hormel chili and cheese. We have 2 young girls, so we typically stay home on New Years and have a pizza/movie party.
Can’t go wrong with a good warm caramel apple pie New Year’s Eve!!!
Favorite dish for new years is Smoked-salmon salad!! thank you 🙂
Ohhhh, I have wanted one of these for so long. I cook and bake all the time this would come in so handy! I like Lasagna with homemade french bread.
Oh I go old school for New Years Eve dinner. I will fix fondue with oil for beef and shrimp sauces for dipping, a cheddar cheese fondue, with veggies, bread, fruit. I might go extreme and do a chocolate fondue too. The grand kids like that the best. Having to be close to the cooking pot keeps conversation going and comfort for the New Year. Always proving lots of wine and bubbly too.
My favorite NYE dinner is shrimp cocktail and a bunch of appetizers & h’orderves.
We graze and don’t have to deal with the Holiday meals anymore.
I also liked you a long time ago on facebook 🙂

My favorite new year’s dish is a Black Eyed Pea dip recipe I found from another website. It’s got a little spice and is cheesy and so good!!! I LOVE IT!!!
My favorite New Year’s Eve dish is bagna calda (sp?). It’s an Italian dish that my mother in law makes with lots of garlic, butter and anchovies. Sounds stange, but is delish! Thank you for a fabulous giveaway.
Beef tenderloin and a great glass of Merlot…
Your holiday dinner purchased through Sam’s Club is a winner! (What a great idea, and it’s BEAUTIFUL!) My favorite holiday dinner is one using produce from our current year’s garden/land– adding to that, the frozen chicken I can get from Sam’s Club (the best!). Of course, who can go to Sam’s Club and ONLY get chicken!?!? Probably, nobody– including me! : )
My fav. New Year’s eve dish is some steamed shrimp (something my family did since I was a kid, seafood on new year’s) and with my hubby we enjoy take-out sushi!
Just good old spaghetti is what we love and enjoy the leftovers over the next few days!
Because of our young kiddos and what we plan to do for New Years we always order take out from our favorite Indian restaurant and we always get…
* Mango Lassi
* Chicken Tikka Masala
* Garlic Naan
* Lamb Bryani
* Extra herbed rice
YUMMMY! I’m hungry already 🙂

My favorite dish for NYE is any kind of dip.. 7-layer, queso, guacamole, french onion… so so good!
I love making spiral ham for new years eve.
One other thing I absolutely love for a meal– even a holiday meal– is an assortment of soups (soup buffet) with salad and a variety of crusty breads to choose from. M-m-m-m-m-m-m!
Hog jowl (represents success), blackeyed peas (represents luck), and cabbage (represents money) – in the South.
