Wow, another holiday season is over. But, I have one more holiday gift to giveaway! See how you can enter to win a KitchenAid Pro HD 5 qt Stand Mixer at the end of this post! EDITED: GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED
I hope you were surrounded by the ones you love most! Our holiday seemed to just go on and on and on, and I was sad to see it end, as out of town family loaded up their car and headed back to Kentucky yesterday.
It always seems like SO much prep, and then BAM! it’s all over way too fast!
Right before Christmas the good people at Sam’s Club challenged several bloggers to create a holiday meal with an assigned budget. My budget was $60, and I decided to use it for a pre New Years Eve dinner with just the four of us.
I had been cooking, and baking all week, so I decided to let Sam’s Club do the cooking for me! I wanted an easy, yet delicious meal we could all enjoy.
Sam’s Club made it simple. By shopping their Artisan Fresh section, I was able to put a great tasting meal on the table with little stress for me! – and we even have left overs!
Budget Friendly Holiday Meal
I couldn’t have come much closer to my budget! My total was $59.21.
Here’s what I picked up:

Chicken and Bacon Bruschetta ($9.98)
Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo ($10.88)
Spring Mix for salad ($4.47)
Herb & Garlic Focaccia ($2.78)
Artisan Fresh Cheesecake Sampler ($14.98)
Wine ($12.98)
$56.07 + $3.14 (tax) = $59.21
This was a nice treat and holiday meal that wouldn’t break your back or budget, leaving more time for family and guests! You could stretch your dollar even further if you wanted to cook your own meal. Sam’s Club has taken all the work out of that for you too, with their Simply Delicious Meals site, full of recipes, meal plans, wine pairing and even shopping lists!

I can’t wait to use my KA to make cookie dough cream cheese bars! My fav!
I make it dessert night on New Year’s Eve so my favorite would be the Homemade Turtle Cheesecake.
It has come to our tradition that New Years eve is basically a finger food night with the exception of a potato dish. This dish is eaten so quick that I have yet to worry about what if it becomes cold.
2lbs Scalloped Potatos
1 8oz Heavy cream
1/4 cup milk
1 garlic clove
1 wedge Parmesan cheese
1 wedge SMOKED Guyere cheese
A little mozzarella cheese
In pan heat up cream, milk, salt, pepper and garlic. In a 2qt pan (buttered) layer potatoes and cheese and milk. Bake 350 for 45-60min (golden brown top). And enjoy. YES this is a heavy dish but once a year is okay and what way to bring in the New Year but with a nice happy cozy feeling.

Black eyed peas are a southern tradition.
I have shared this Giveaway with all my friends on Facebook!
For New Years Eve we always do a sea food feast. My fav dish is the shrimp scampi I make. Yummy!!!
Living in the South and being married to a true Southerner, I have learned to love Hopping John.
I was never much of a black eyed pea person and definitely didn’t know how to make them. But now, I have learned that the canned variety doesn’t do justice to real black eyed peas and rice.
Cinnamon rolls for breakfast!
I am sooo southern. We always make black eyed peas for, collard greens, and ham or some sort. It is supposed to bring you luck. Maybe I’ll get lucky and win a Kitchen Aid mixer!!

Like TM on FB already. 🙂
My favorite New Years Dish is Turnip Greens, Ham, and Black Eyed Peas. Yes, I’m from the South. 😉
Can my favorite dish be the dessert? We’ve done different meals on New Year’s Eve but every year the one thing I HAVE to make is marble cheescake! YUM!

I love all the app’s that you can do and I make that my meal for New Years, my favorite would have to be hot artichoke dip.
We don’t have a new years eve dinner tradition. Maybe we should start one with my Hawaiian Chilli. ;0)
