Wow, another holiday season is over. But, I have one more holiday gift to giveaway! See how you can enter to win a KitchenAid Pro HD 5 qt Stand Mixer at the end of this post! EDITED: GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED
I hope you were surrounded by the ones you love most! Our holiday seemed to just go on and on and on, and I was sad to see it end, as out of town family loaded up their car and headed back to Kentucky yesterday.
It always seems like SO much prep, and then BAM! it’s all over way too fast!
Right before Christmas the good people at Sam’s Club challenged several bloggers to create a holiday meal with an assigned budget. My budget was $60, and I decided to use it for a pre New Years Eve dinner with just the four of us.
I had been cooking, and baking all week, so I decided to let Sam’s Club do the cooking for me! I wanted an easy, yet delicious meal we could all enjoy.
Sam’s Club made it simple. By shopping their Artisan Fresh section, I was able to put a great tasting meal on the table with little stress for me! – and we even have left overs!
Budget Friendly Holiday Meal
I couldn’t have come much closer to my budget! My total was $59.21.
Here’s what I picked up:

Chicken and Bacon Bruschetta ($9.98)
Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo ($10.88)
Spring Mix for salad ($4.47)
Herb & Garlic Focaccia ($2.78)
Artisan Fresh Cheesecake Sampler ($14.98)
Wine ($12.98)
$56.07 + $3.14 (tax) = $59.21
This was a nice treat and holiday meal that wouldn’t break your back or budget, leaving more time for family and guests! You could stretch your dollar even further if you wanted to cook your own meal. Sam’s Club has taken all the work out of that for you too, with their Simply Delicious Meals site, full of recipes, meal plans, wine pairing and even shopping lists!

I gotta have it! 🙂 Consider me on the list of those that covet this awesome piece of culinary machinery! Santa did not bring this for me, if I don’t win it I may have to sell one of my children to get one! lol
Bacon wrapped shrimp!!!
I tweeted about your contest, my twitter name is @johnsned
Our favorite New Year’s meal is Surf N Turf. We have shrimp cocktail, followed by a sirloin strip steak, roasted vegetables medley, and a wonderful side salad with homemade dressing. Thanks for all you do! Wishing you a great 2012!

We always just do a lot of finger foods and appetizers, keeps the kids happy and full. I love party trays with cheese and olives! But Chex Mix is awesome too.

For us New Year’s Eve is all about the canapés. My favs include Brie and cranberry filo pastry parcels, Nigella Lawson’s crab cakes with freshly squeezed lime, sticky barbecue cocktail sauces and sweet and sticky baby ribs. Washed down with something fizzy this is the perfect recipe for New Year’s Eve.
We usually have lots of appetizers…my favorite is little smokies, wrapped in bacon, topped with brown sugar and baked. (not sure what those are called?) Thanks for the giveaway!
We go to a hibachi grill on new year’s eve!
I love black eyed peas on New Year’s Day–my Southern upbringing calls for it!
It hasn’t changed since I was a little girl: totinos pizza rolls and sparkling grape juice
Steamed shrimp with cocktail sauce, twice baked potatoes anfd black eyed peas.

Our New Years Eve meal normally includes big Texas grilled ribeyes shared with family & friends, along with a baked potato & salad. We finish off the fun-filled evening with a light dessert & a nice drink at the stroke of midnight! New Year’s Day is filled with all the luck filled items including blackeyed peas & cabbage! We love holiday food traditions!

I carry on the tradition that my Grandma did and that is eating Patsy’s. Don’t know if you heard of them or might be called something different but they basically are individual meat pies. I use my Grandma’s dough recipe and try to make them like she did. Anyway that wants to come over and eat is welcome to join us. I serve them with a salad. It is nothing fancy but I love them and the memories.

We don’t have a new year’s eve tradition, but for New Years Day reuben sandwiches are a must!
Our favorite food on New Year’s is chicken wings and appetizers, then we just graze all evening.

I just tweeted
Nothing beats pork and sauerkraut! What a way to bring in the New Year! There are always plenty of desserts to go around too!
That Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo in the picture above sure looks delicious! As for a New Year’s Eve dish … nothing specific. However, what I like to snack on as I watch the Countdown shows and wait for the Fireworks to go off is something light, cheese and crackers. But traditionally, I share a bottle of Sparkling Apple Cider with my son.
My favorite dish for New Year’s is Black Eyed Pea Jambalaya (Hoppin’ John). It has peas symbolic of money and pork that signifies wealth and prosperity
I’d love to make some of my New Years Eve Cupcakes with that Mixer!

My favorite New Year’s Eve meal is Filet Mignon and Lobster Tail with home made mash potatoes. A splurge for sure but such a good way to start the new year. A great new mixer would make my mashed potatoes so much easier.
