Wow, another holiday season is over. But, I have one more holiday gift to giveaway! See how you can enter to win a KitchenAid Pro HD 5 qt Stand Mixer at the end of this post! EDITED: GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED
I hope you were surrounded by the ones you love most! Our holiday seemed to just go on and on and on, and I was sad to see it end, as out of town family loaded up their car and headed back to Kentucky yesterday.
It always seems like SO much prep, and then BAM! it’s all over way too fast!
Right before Christmas the good people at Sam’s Club challenged several bloggers to create a holiday meal with an assigned budget. My budget was $60, and I decided to use it for a pre New Years Eve dinner with just the four of us.
I had been cooking, and baking all week, so I decided to let Sam’s Club do the cooking for me! I wanted an easy, yet delicious meal we could all enjoy.
Sam’s Club made it simple. By shopping their Artisan Fresh section, I was able to put a great tasting meal on the table with little stress for me! – and we even have left overs!
Budget Friendly Holiday Meal
I couldn’t have come much closer to my budget! My total was $59.21.
Here’s what I picked up:
// ]]>
Chicken and Bacon Bruschetta ($9.98)
Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo ($10.88)
Spring Mix for salad ($4.47)
Herb & Garlic Focaccia ($2.78)
Artisan Fresh Cheesecake Sampler ($14.98)
Wine ($12.98)
$56.07 + $3.14 (tax) = $59.21
This was a nice treat and holiday meal that wouldn’t break your back or budget, leaving more time for family and guests! You could stretch your dollar even further if you wanted to cook your own meal. Sam’s Club has taken all the work out of that for you too, with their Simply Delicious Meals site, full of recipes, meal plans, wine pairing and even shopping lists!

I like seafood on NYE so I’m thinking about a crab dip.
I don’t think I have a favorite dish for New Year’s. Maybe something in the dip family, since we end up munching all night long. I love a taco dip with cream cheese, sour cream & taco seasoning mixed together and then layered with whatever taco toppings you like.
What a great give-a-way… I love super thin crust pizza… yum! Happy New Year indeed!
I like you both on FB. 🙂
A pot of chili or potato soup with cornbread is ALWAYS a favorite around here on a cold New Year’s Eve Evening!
And with 5 kids and a hubby, a nice new Kitchen Aid would be SWEET!

shrimp scampi over fettuccini is my favorite New Years Dinner
my husband and I cook bacon wrapped filet of beef and have rice pilaf and baby leSeur peas in butter sauce. Then we have a great dessert that must involve chocolate.
My favorite new years snack is brie, some partly cooked down apples, and dried friut baked inside crecent rolls or puff pastry! Delectible 🙂 Happy New Year!!!!!
With 2 young kids we keep it simple: finger sandwiches!
We always do appetizers and snack items for New Year’s Eve. My husband always asks me to make Polish Mistakes and spicy nacho cheese dip. We spend the evening playing games, watching movies, and just enjoying our last moments of the year!

My favorite dish for New Year’s is a yummy spinach and artichoke dip. (preferably with pita chips)
We’re all about the finger foods on NYE. I love making up a batch of cashew olive dip or mini champagne cupcakes to serve to guests.
My son, when he was little, thought when we said we were having a toast at midnight, that we meant we were having TOAST at midnight, so every year, we make toast at midnight! Hee hee! That is our fav NY Eve food!
My favorite dish is buffalo chicken dip. It’s not a main course, but I could eat a whole batch of it!

We love to fondue on New Year’s Eve with our kiddos. We spread a big blanket on the living room floor, watch movies, check in to watch other parts of the world hit midnight and dip tart apples, wholegrain breads, pickled onions, gherkins and smoked ham into the hot bubbly cheese. The littles get sparkling cider while we enjoy some Asti Spumante.
