Lemon Drop Martini With Elderflower

It’s 5 O’Clock somewhere, right?

That’s my mantra anytime I’m craving this amazing lemon drop martini. The added twist takes this classic and sophisticated favorite and brings it to royal level. Trust me, once you add elderflower to your cocktails, there is no going back!

This lemon drop martini recipe is a delightful refresher. The classy cocktail is a great mid-meal sipper, or as a pre-dinner drink. You could even enjoy with appetizers or as a late-hours nightcap.

If you love a subtly sweet cocktail, that doesn’t lack when it comes to alcohol ratio, then you’re going to be first in line for this recipe. The mix of lemon juice and elderflower cordial mix divinely with the vodka and triple sec for a cocktail you can sip on all night without getting a stomach ache!

What Does Elderflower Taste Like?

I fell in love with it while mixing elderflower syrup into cocktails this winter when I first discovered the Twinkle Champagne Cocktail. Before discovering that drink, I had no idea what Elderflower was, and honestly, it didn’t sound too appealing. Why would I want to add a strong floral taste to my cocktails?

Well to my surprise, the Elderflower Cordial does not bring a strong floral flavor at all! It adds subtle fruity sweetness with just a hint of floral notes to the cocktail. Best of all, unlike rose and lavender, elderflower’s a floral flavor that doesn’t taste like perfume at all!

In case you needed any more convincing that Elderflower is really the way to go, you might have heard that Meghan Markle is a huge fan of the elderflower trend and even served elderflower cake at her wedding. So, if it’s good enough for the royal family it must be good enough for me, right?

How to Make A Lemon Drop Martini

You’re definitely going to swoon over the taste of this cocktail, but you also might get some joy out of how easy it is too! it’s almost dangerous how easy it is to make! You might find yourself whipping up 3 or more in one night because it only takes a few minutes to make.

Just place vodka, elderflower cordial, triple sec, and lemon juice into a cocktail shaker with a few ice cubes and shake vigorously. Then moisten the rim of a martini glass with a lemon wedge. Turn the glass upside down and dip in sugar for a coated rim.
Strain into the prepared martini glass, garnish with lemon twist and serve immediately.

It’s really that simple because who said making fancy cocktails had to require years of skill? Even if you think you’re the worst cocktail mixer out there, trust me you should still try this. It’s almost fool proof!

Tools You’ll Need To Make The Best Lemon Drop Martini

I think we all know by now that half the battle when it comes to constructing the perfect craft cocktail is making sure you have the right tools. You can have all the best ingredients you want, but when it comes down to it you need to have your core bartender tools to be able to recreate your favorite bar cocktails in the comfort of your own home

Luckily for you, I have the full list of your essential bar tools listed below. This might seem like a lot for one cocktail, but most of these items are great to have on hand for a ton of other cocktails as well!

Quick Tips For Making This Easy Lemon Martini Recipe

It’s all about the lemons: You can use regular lemons, or go the easy route and use the bottled lemon juice, but I prefer Meyer lemons because they are little sweeter and less tart. I’ve tried the recipe all three ways and its still great no matter which you use, so feel free to use what you have!

Use ALL parts of the lemon. Use a channel knife to make a lemon twist garnish. You can even add lemon zest to the rimming sugar.  Then juice the lemon to get the fresh juice for the cocktail.

Use a good juicer: When juicing a lemon, it’s easy to miss out on a lot of the juice that’s still left in the lemon. To make sure you extract all the juice and reduce the number of lemons you have to use, I recommend not buying the cheapest juicer.

Shake your ingredients: I can’t advocate the importance of shaking your cocktails enough! It really does make a difference, even if you don’t think it will. Just trust me on this one and invest in a cocktail shaker to blend your ingredients completely!

Not only will it blend, but it also helps get the drink nice and ice cold without diluting it with ice to make the perfect refreshing lemon drop drink.

A pretty glass is best: Obviously, you can serve this lemon drop cocktail in any glass you want, but I will say that adding a pretty glass just makes it feel so sophisticated.

When I drink this in a martini glass I feel like I’m Carrie Bradshaw having my evening cocktail in my fabulous New York apartment.
