Spring Mantel Decorating

The weather in St. Louis has been pretty beautiful, so far, this spring. I know we are barely into spring, but we’ve had lots of sunshine and beautiful temperatures…….this is until today when I decided to share my Spring Mantel with you. We had a big storm this morning that dumped a lot of rain and hail in a very short time. April showers, bring May flowers right? 😉 What better way to welcome spring than with a spring mantel?
Do you know we’ve been in this house almost 2 years, and I’ve never shared a decorated mantel yet…..there’s a very good reason for that 😉 I was so excited to have a house with a fireplace, because we love to have a fire going most of the winter. The mess of a wood-burning fireplace is kind of a pain, but it’s SO worth the benefits of a warm crackling fire on a cold winter night. I also thought I would love decorating a mantel. But since we painted the family room last year, other than Christmas, this is the first time I’ve actually decorated the mantel. I’m not sure why I’m struggling with it so much. I’m so excited to share my Spring Mantel with you today, since I love how it all came together.
I’ve had the metal antlers over the fireplace since we painted the room. They are from one of my favorite shabby chic shops in St. Louis —The White Rabbit.
I hit up the White Rabbit again on my birthday, where I fell in love with the botanical print with burlap on the frame. I also picked up the little boxwood wreath and the pheasant feathers. Picking up a few new things put me in the mood to see what I could do with the mantel. I’m embarrassed to say, I still had some of the pieces up there that I used for my Christmas mantel – gold jars, a gold candle, gold frame and a clear vase. Suddenly when I put the botanical print up and started moving the holiday leftovers around, I began to like the way it looked!!
I started looking around the house for other things that would fit my gold/neutral and green color scheme. Before I knew it, I had a Spring Mantel that I love!!
The old camera and bingo cards were a few things I had recently picked up from some antique shops, the dried flowers were a recent purchase from West Elm…..everything else, I found around my house.
I just love how much light we get in this room. I’m still in love with my choice of wall color – Benjamin Moore – Coventry Gray. It’s the perfect gray and I get so many compliments on it.
So there’s my Spring Mantel of 2015. Let’s be honest….it will probably stay like this until fall 😉
Now here’s to hoping for those pretty May flowers all this rain should bring!
I would love to see how you decorate your mantel for spring!
