My Favorite Aveda Styling Products: I’m Lovin’ It

Favorite Aveda hair styling products at

I shared some of my favorite hair styling products a little over a year ago.  At that time I mentioned that my hair stylist daughter, Heather, had just moved to an Aveda Salon and I would be dishing on some of my favorite Aveda products, at some point.

Over the last year and a half that we’ve been using AVEDA products I have found two styling products that I love!

AVEDA phomolient is a styling foam.  You use it like hair mousse on damp hair,  but is not a thick foam, it’s more like foaming hand soap. This styling foam has certified organic honey, burdock and marshmallow root. It adds weightless volume, texture and detangles  fine to thick hair.

  • Damp hair – I usually put 3-4 pumps in the palm of my hand and gently apply to the roots around the top of my head.

AVEDA Brilliant Universal Styling Creme can be used on damp or dry hair.  This rich creme defines texture, softens hair, tames frizz and protects against humidity.  It does not weigh down your hair, but a little goes a long way, and it smells wonderful! Great for all hair types except thin fine hair, especially good for coarse or curly hair.

  • Damp hair – use a pea size amount, rub palms together, then over top layer of hair and thru the ends. (I use it this way every time I wash my hair).  It does wonders for cutting down on frizz.
  • Dry hair – use pea size or less, rub into palms or finger tips and run over top layer of hair to tame fly aways and add shine.

I LOVE Aveda products. They are all I ever use on my hair! I really like the volumizing tonic and the straightening line to help with friz in the summer.

  6. 7

I just bought the Phomollient and love it as well. My absolute favorite Aveda hair product, though, is the Volumizing Tonic. The bottle lasts forever and it works great!

I’ve been using and loving Aveda products for over 20 years! (another awesome product line from MN!!) My favorites…rosemary mint hand and body wash AND the shampoo, hand relief lotion, Brilliant hair spray, light elements smoothing fluid, brilliant humectant pomade, phomolient (like you!), alot of their makeup… My mom has salt and pepper hair (more of the salt every day!!) and loves their shampoo line for gray hair – it makes her gray so bright and beautiful!

  21. 24

Ohhhh I absolutely LOVE learning about new products. I have sort of an obsession with trying new things like this. Thanks for the info!

  22. 25

    Thanks so much for hosting!

  23. 26

I just discovered Aveda products. I recently got butchered at a local chop Salon (the kind with high turnovers and constant newbies). In a complete panic and tears (I have short hair) I started Googling “REAL” salons I found an Aveda Salon so close to my house I can’t believe I didn’t know it was there! Anyhow after finding that day fully booked and doing my best to calm down and not feel like a butchered freak and scheduling a haircut the next morning. HOLY CUTE HAIR BATMAN! That salon was my Saving Grace! I got the haircut I wanted (well as much as I could with what hair I had left). I use the Light Elements Texturizing Cream. I have thick fine hair and I LOVE how light this is. I will eventually buy more product and replace my shampoo and conditioner. I’m just so darn happy to have found a stylist that’s not going anywhere!

Oh I’m so glad your story had a happy ending!!!
It sucks to get a hair cut that you are not happy with……so many of us have been there at least once. I’m glad I decided to “grow” my own hair stylist! Lol

  24. 28

    Happy Friday!

  25. 29

I just submitted my entry for your Friday event (plum tartlets).
And my favorite Aveda product at this time is this little powder that volumizes your hair. It’s wonderful! I love Aveda in general, one of my most favorite brands.

  26. 30

Thanks another awesomely crowded party Cheryl! :)

  27. 31

    Thanks for hosting!!

  28. 32

Thanks for hosting Cheryl! I’ve never tried AVEDA. I will have to check them out!

  29. 33

See? We were MEANT to be friends! I use nothing but Aveda (because I have a wonderful friend that works for Aveda and shares his discount with me!) and the two products you just blogged are my favorite too! I am obsessed with the smell of Brilliant! Good for you! Good for us! xo
