There is one thing we ALL have in common……….we all lose our baby teeth. And most all of us remember the excitement and mystery of visits from the tooth fairy.
The tooth fairy is a tradition that has stood the test of time with so many great customs from trailing fairy dust, to miniature doors and tooth-shaped pillows to special coins or just good ole hard cash … all for the magical fairy in exchange for the pearly whites.

Really cute!! I have vivid memories of losing teeth as a kid..the school would send the tooth home in a special tooth fairy envelope lol
I loved putting the tooth under my pillow and seeing what the tooth fairy would bring me the next morning..we only got about 50 cents haha..I think kids get about $1-5 now lol

always got a quarter under my pillow!
Tooth goes under the pillow at night and then in the morning the child finds it has been replaced with a gold dollar – plus the added bonus of having ‘fairy dust’ (glitter) sprinkled over the pillow!
We always gave my kids a golden dollar from the tooth fairy! They were always excited about that.
My most memorable tooth fairy memory is one time the tooth fairy left me a note along with the quarter! Now, 50+ years later, I don’t remember what the note said but it was written in multi-colored ink and had lots of stars on it. I was so thrilled that the tooth fairy wrote something for ME.

My biggest memory is putting a tooth under my pillow and waking up the next morning and still seeing my tooth! Apparently the tooth fairy was on vacation that night! 🙂

We just do the “regular” thing with the tooth fairy’s visit… BUT I need to tell you my daughter wants to be a tooth fairy for Halloween!!! Cute, but it will be a challenge 🙂
My mom and dad used to put a mini treasure chest under my pillow with my tooth in it, and the tooth fairy would magically come in the night! The treasure chest made it really special 🙂

We did not have a tooth fairy:( My parents were quite religious and strict and didn’t like folklore or stories with elves, fairies, etc. Lame!

I leave my kids little notes from the tooth fairy written on tiny paper & tiny, tiny letters! The kids are amazed how small the note is & thinks it’s so adorable 🙂 They always talk about how tiny the pen would have to be LOL
Okay, so I love Stumbleupon. Found this piece and was absolutely inspired. My children are a few years away from the “tooth losing” phase, and to be honest, I was unsure as to whether or not the Tooth Fairy would be making appearances at my home at all; (a crazy woman with wings stealing dirty teeth in the middle of the night? Nuh uh. lol) but this piece has given me some great ideas and inspired me to think of some tooth losing traditions of my own 🙂
These are all lovely ideas! It’s so much fun as a parent to create a little magic in our children’s lives. I really want to get some of the gold coins to leave!
