It’s hard to believe that this time last year, Heather moved out and got her own apartment.
and this time next year, Allison will be wrapping up her senior year of high school and getting ready to pack up and move on to college.

Sometimes I feel like life is passing by SO quickly. Our empty nest is much closer than I want it to be!! So for now, I try and make sure I enjoy and capture as many of the memories that I can.

Some hereditary cancers, such as Colon Cancer, have certain risk factors associated with them, making it possible to actually prevent these cancers!

If you find out that you are at a higher risk, you can get a Colonoscopy which can rule out or catch a silent growing Cancer and save your life giving you more precious time with your family and loved ones.
In fact, there is also a genetic test that can determine if you carry any of the Colon Cancer related genes. Which you can then use the results of that test to map out a prevention plan for you with a Genetic Counselor. These cancers tend to run in families so be sure to encourage your family members and loved ones to be screened as well.
Life is full of surprises. Some surprises are wonderful and enriching. Other surprises…not so much.

Great reminder. Cool that you were able to partner with them to get the word out. So important to take cancer in general seriously. Hitting way too close to home these days. Seems everyone close to me has gone through it or is currently fighting some form. Scary.
I know! same here – I lost my dad to cancer 9 years ago, as well as a few other relatives. Hopefully some day they all can be prevented!!
Thank You so much, to you and the others, for getting the word out about how important it is to get a colonoscopy. My father was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer this past October and I wish that he had gone to our doctor earlier for a checkup and for the colonoscopy test because early detection really is the best thing when it comes to any type of cancer.
